Tax Detail Causes Delay
Caracas Venezuela Actress Jayne Mansfield paid a 220 fine to the Venezuelan government for irregularities in her tax clearance papers. She was stopped from leaving as authorities said someone altered the clearance showing tax paid on income earned there. City Fire Equipment Undergoes Unannounced Test
Illinois Inspection Bureau conducted an unannounced check of Pontiac fire apparatus with Fire Chief Louis Kridner noting the inspection occurs about every decade. Two trucks required minor pump repairs, while five others passed. The newly bought tanker was not tested due to its recent startup. The Vermilion River Play Park and Pontiac Stone Quarry hosted the inspection.

Fire crews answered a seven o clock call at the LeRoy Field farm four miles south of Pontiac and two miles west of the county farm. A tool shed was on fire with minor damage and the cause remained undetermined. Chenoa Fire Department also responded.
