The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas and the Indian Arts and Crafts Board will host a free seminar on August 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Retreat in Woodville to promote the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, trademarks, copyrights, and related business ideas for Native artists. The event also seeks to raise visibility of protections against misrepresentation and to provide networking for artists.

Polk County commissioners continued a two year term starting Sept 1 2013 and renewed risk management insurance with Texas Association of Counties. They approved purchases including a computer and printers for up to 1962.13 and two computers for 2979.80. Ratified security and monitoring contracts, bid advertising, and kept road fees unchanged.
