Angelina College announces the Polk County Center at 1801 U.S. 59 Loop North in Livingston is open for business with an early registration session from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday Aug 15 and regular registrations on Aug 28 and 29. Center coordinator Kevin Wooten, a Livingston native and AC instructor, will attend with staff to discuss financial aid degree counseling and course advising for the upcoming semester. Lifelong Polk County resident Lulang, born 1904 during Theodore Roosevelt's presidency, will celebrate her 109th birthday on August 17 at her home on Colita Street. She is matriarch of a large extended family with four surviving children, 19 grandchildren, and multiple generations. Her life spans Native American roots, migration to Texas, and a long record of faith, community service, and patriotism, inspiring a playwright grandson who based a character on her life.
