Minister Receives Silverware Gift After Vacation Return

Pastor George McAtee and Mrs. Henry returned from a three week vacation to a warm welcome. Church members presented a silverware set in an oak cabinet and other plate pieces. Elder Hall spoke for the congregation, and tears and emotion marked the tribute as the minister pledged to continue loving service.

The local chautauqua committee does not receive receipts after the event opens. The Vawter Chautauqua Company handles all finances, while the committee earns a percentage only on tickets sold before the opening hour. Buy season tickets for 50 cents to support the effort.

Woman's Club Hosts Men To Picnic Style Dinner On Lawn

Committee No One of the Woman's Club entertained members and their partners on the R. N. McComb s lawn last Friday evening. A six o clock dinner was served picnic style and guests enjoyed a delightful time. The club’s invitation of men to share the event marked a memorable occasion and featured the “eatins.”

Burglary at J A Peterson and Two Stores

Last Friday night burglars entered J A Peterson E H Southworth and M Hakes stores using a pry to back windows. Cash losses ranged from six to ten dollars at Peterson and only a few cents at the others. The piece notes amateurish effort and urges perpetrators be brought to justice before further incidents occur.

Pocahontas County YMCA Camp Dates Set

Pocahontas County YMCA Camp will run August 10 to 17 at Camp Foster East Okoboji with boys aged twelve to eighteen eligible. Application to County Secretary by August 7, with six dollar fee covering tents boats and board. travel not included. State and county leaders Leonard Paulson and Fred Hanson will attend to help ensure a safe clean sports program and enjoyable experience.

Volunteers Needed to Transport Boys to Camp

Volunteers with cars are urged to help transport boys to the camp again this year. Applications should be sent soon to the secretary with a simple statement of desire to attend, and full instructions will be provided.

Good News for Modern Woodmen in Illinois Iowa Case

The head camp M. W. A. met in Toledo. Since then the appellate court of Illinois third district affirmed Judge Shirley's decree enjoining Chicago rate collection. The court sustained the complaints that Chicago plan required a change in articles of association, which were not legally made and void, restoring the society to the pre 1912 charter.

Church hoped for Houser reception in October

A large crowd gathered at the church on Sunday morning and learned Mr. Houser could not attend as advertised. A reception will be planned for his October visit. The Christian Workers exchange is set for Saturday afternoon at the church, phone 131. The mission band meets Saturday at 2 30 p m with Miss Katie Kern, and Bible School starts at 10 a m next.

Parish Notes on Services and Missions in Mexico

Eighty seven attended last Sunday in a hot day service. Sermon and communion at 11 a.m. on A Priceless Invitation. YY. P. S. C. E. at 7 p.m. on Courage. Thirty present last Sunday. 8 p.m. sermon A Sacrifice for the Sake of Peace in the Old Testament series. Mid-week prayer on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Prohibition of priestcraft ignorance raised. Protestant missions in Mexico praised for education and reform. Rev. H. E. Morrow to speak on Mexico next Sunday.
