Last Friday Laurens met Albert City in a ball game drawing a large crowd of supporters. Laurens dominated the play with Lynch pitching a tight effort, while Albert City's pitcher received poor support. Final score Laurens 8, Albert City 1.
The morning papers report Huerta resigning as president of Mexico with Francisco Carbajal named as Foreign Relations minister in his place. Huerta’s family had fled Mexico City ahead of the announcement and the resignation was anticipated.
Paul Schuler drives one of McAfee & Sons Oak lands Model 36. Ben Gilbert of Fon du Lac visiting Mrs. N. L. Norton and family. Clarence Reyman resigns from post office. Viola Tolbert succeeds him. Laura McCombs visits R. N. McCombs home. Claus Leindlief family and mother visit Alfred Johnson home.
At yesterday’s Republican state convention Frank S. Shaw of Tama County was nominated for state auditor after three ballots. The convention was harmonious and adopted a platform endorsing woman suffrage and the current multi liquor law.
The McMahon Carnival drew good crowds each evening on Cherokee strip, boasting a clean, respectable lineup and avoidance of questionable acts. Management emphasizes decency. G W Strickland W A McNeee B A Hakes and F C Gilchrist did an auto trip to Ft Dodge Tuesday, then Gilchrist to Des Moines for the Republican convention. Mrs Richard Armstead, mother of Mrs D W Larimer, died at Sioux Rapids last Sunday and was buried yesterday. Armstead is very ill.

An advance man for the chautauqua toured the town on Tuesday, spreading advertising and distributing a handful of tickets. The official advertising man is slated to arrive in a few days.
Tracy Larson traveled to Rochester Minnesota last Friday to consult a specialist about his nose and is currently undergoing treatment. He remains under medical care at the facility.
