Havelock Happenings Full of Local Callers and Travel

Havelock residents report visitors and callers from Rolfe Pocahontas Humboldt Fort Dodge and other towns. Several families plan trips to Minnesota Illinois and Fort Dodge while others host guests at home. The piece notes a Ladies Aid dinner and a family moving to Fort Dodge.

Whisler Stacy Wedding at Prossner Home

At A. C. Prossner's southwest of Havelock a quiet Tuesday evening wedding joined Guy Whisler and Pearl Stacy in the M. E. church ring ceremony conducted by Rev. William P. Webb. Attendants were A. C. Prussner and Mrs. Prussner. A three course repast followed as guests offered best wishes.

Iowa News Notes Compiled From Centerville Area

One man died and another remained in serious condition after a street dispute over cards. Italian men were involved and the quarrel escalated to revolver fire. Thomas Dickerson of Boone pleaded guilty to horse theft and received five years at hard labor. Louis Fritz of Ida County was acquitted of seduction charges after a 10 hour jury deliberation. John Jackson of Mt. Pleasant stole a horse and buggy and left town. he claimed he needed transport to go nut ting. Marysville near Knoxville dismissed schools fearing diphtheria. A Renwick hardware store and residences were burglarized. burglars were captured with loot in a corn field. Centerville reports two youths arrested and a third sought for assaulting a girl. one acted as escort while others waited roadside. A petition to appoint a receiver against Mason Motor Co. of Waterloo, filed by F. W. Powers trustee, seeks to recover about 100000 for bondholders.

Mrs. C D Junea of Toledo planned extended visiting with her son Dr. Jones. Mrs. P R McCormick of Varina and Miss Nora McCormick of Pocahontas visited relatives here. John Marshall and Miss Jennie Gaughan announced their Des Moines ceremony with marriage. The Mission at the Catholic church drew good attendance despite bad weather. Lawrence Meech returned home from Ford garage duties in Rolfe. Eila Adama leaves for Des Moines to study nursing. Marie Shultz learned of her sister’s illness via telegram.

Iowa State College stock judging team swept the Intercollegiate contest at Kansas City winning the Kansas City Stock Yards association trophy for top team. Members Reynolde Swan Walker Marchant Swift and Duncan placed first through third individually, coached by Prof. Pew. Awards include a large silver loving cup and three individual cups brought to Ames. Plan First Trade School Waterloo Iowa officials discussed establishing the state’s first trades school funded by $25 000.
