Phillips, a high school student, won a national essay contest sponsored by a safety foundation in 1938. The award recognized essays on safe driving and motor manners submitted by students from various schools.
13 year old Worlyry Marrutt of Pleasant Grove has been selected as Utah County's healthiest 4 H club member. The announcement by RB Boswell county agricultural agent states Vervlyp will represent the county in the state healthiest boy contest at the state fair. He is the son of Mrs Gladys Marrutt and a member of the Jersey Club.
A Provo wedding described with Mrs Sjoberg Hulsh in satin and Miss Oeerson in blue net attending. The couple, Mr and Mrs McGuire, hosted a reception in an amusement hall with pink roses, sweet det bouquets, and a gift table. Attendants wore white satin and blue net, and guests enjoyed supper and dancing through the evening.

Seventeen Scouts in Boston area Be Ston 12 troop will be awarded Eagle badges at a Sunday evening meeting marking a historic first. David Gourley will present the badges with M Christianson in charge and George Albert Smith as principal speaker. The group includes Samuel Hilton and Fred Halliday among others with two boys aged 14.
Parents may tour classrooms during Visiting Day sponsored by the Parent Teachers association. A second grade reading demonstration by Mrs Vera Wagstaff and a sixth grade dictionary work session by Mrs Lacey White will be shown at 2:00 p m. Superintendent Mitchall and supervisors Hanson and Nelson attend.
John Alfred Warnick 60 of Pleasant Grove died Tuesday night from heart disease at Provo Hospital. Born February 2 1872 in Pleasant Grove he lived in the area since 1896. Survived by former wife Ada Sorenson Warnick three sons 19 grandchildren two brothers and four sisters. Services Friday at 2 p m at Tampanogos L D S stake temple Pleasant Grove with Bishop Junius A West officiating. Interment Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call at Fred Foutz Home Friday from noon until services.
Last respects were paid to Peter Young 81 at funeral services in the Second ward chapel. He died Tuesday morning at a Provo hospital from causes incident to age after entering hospital two weeks earlier. Born March 23 1867 in Ohio he was once a log hauler whose accident led to leg amputation. He is survived by a half sister Lettie Hustern of California. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
Architect drawings for the new Pleasant Grove city hall were sent to the PWA office in San Francisco on Tuesday. Construction is expected to begin soon after site preparation and clearance.
Pleasant Grove locals report visits from Salt Lake City residents Dr and Mrs D A Harvey. Mrs Emily Peterson. a Timpanogos stake temple event. and a kitchen shower for Miss Lillian Sjoberg. Provo and Lindon guests attend family gatherings while Miss Bessie Kirkham takes club exhibits to the State Fair. Families host birthdays and send relatives to Logan for classes under the State Agricultural College.
The Pleasant Grove junior high student body elected Calvin Fenton as president Wanda Tope as vice president and Faith Stark as secretary treasurer on September 23. Ed Smith led the Friday assembly with a band program and a new school song. A skit titled Living Statues of Modern History featured Lola Tomlinson Lua Anna Lim Fileen Peterson Mary Burns Ben Walker and Mildred Bezzant.

Activity leaders from Tim panogos strike met with Vilace Rad mall of the stake M I A board on Wednesday night to arrange the season schedule. They aim to avoid conflicts and ensure a fair distribution of good dates. The final meeting is set for Monday night.
A conjoint meeting of the manna Ward will be held at Granite Flat in American Fork canyon Sunday afternoon from 2 30 to 3 30 p m. Keith Warnick of the ward M I14 superintendency is in charge.
