Pleasant Grove City Council Adopts Water Works Ordinance

The Pleasant Grove City Council met in regular session with Mayor J B Oan presiding and most members present. An ordinance amending waterworks sections passed its third reading and was adopted, with plans to clear the collecting trench and restore water flow. The meeting covered plumbing enforcement, city property needs, cemetery lots, and preparations for the County Fair exhibit at Orem and Pioneer Grove, plus remarks on the Dahlia flowers and Holstein cattle displays.

Pleasant Grove Exhibit Wins Praise at County Fair

Opening day highlights include a fine Pleasant Grove exhibit featuring flowers. WM Lavina Fugal Mrs Mabel and Mrs Annie Dittmore drew attention as attendees praised the display. Governor H Whigs Dern lauded the flowers and a banquet was presented to showcase the exhibit. Chas Davis county spoke in place.

Special Mention of Mrs. Fugal's Dahlias at County Fair

At the county fair Mrs. J. P. Fugal's dahlias drew notable praise from visitors. Governor George H. Dern extolled the blooms as the most gorgeous seen in state and coast shows, while Mr. Greahl, Salt Lake & Utah R. R. traffic manager, called them the finest he has ever seen. Several specimens measured twelve inches in diameter.

Lindon Grade Schools Hold Yearly Harvest Fair

Lindon grade pupils supervised by their teachers held their annual harvest festival and fair on Tuesday. First to third places were judged by separate displays. Boys exhibited fruits vegetables grains and poultry while girls showed sewing and cooking. Grammar grade supervisor Leo Hansen visited and urged other teachers to attend. some Sharon school teachers attended at noon.

Pleasant Grove Students at BYU Register in Record Fall Enrollment

Registration for the fall quarter at Brigham Young University exceeds all prior years with over 1100 students enrolled, 38 from Pleasant Grove. The list includes 16 states and six foreign countries, plus transfers from Utah junior colleges. Notable Pleasant Grove names span Olpin Atwood Brin Bullock and many others.

Relief Societies of Timpanogos Stake Hold Conference

Relief Societies of the Timpanogos Stake will hold a conference Sunday September 29. Meetings at the high school run 8:30 to 9:00 Stake Executive officers, 9:00 to 9:30 Stake Board, 10:00 to 12:00 Stake and local officers. In the tabernacle at 2:00 p.m. a general public meeting for Relief Society officers and members with General Board members and the Relief Society Choir expected to attend.

Auto Accident Sunday Injures Three in Provo Canyon

In Provo canyon Orin Swenson sustained a back injury while Miss Josie Fage suffered four broken ribs and facial cuts as Alta Piper received three fractured ribs and bruises. Their car veered off a 60 foot embankment, rolled twice, then landed near the railroad track. Clarence York, uninjured, climbed the slope to alert a passing car for transport to Midway where the injured were receiving treatment.

Funeral Services For Isaac Canham Held Sunday in Tabernacle

Funeral services for Isaac Canham were held Sunday September 22 at the Timpanogos Stake Tabernacle for the death of Isaac Canham September 1 after a months long illness. Bishop D B Thorte presided. A quartet and Melba W Cluff led several musical numbers including Oh My Father and The Spirit of God. Moose Lodge of Salt Lake City sent a representative to speak. A life sketch by J D Wadley was read by Robert Walker. Speakers praised Mr Canham, and interment followed at Pleasant Grove cemetery with grave side rites by George R Ash. About 25 Moose Lodge members attended the grave side service.
