Daughters of Utah Pioneers commemorated the pioneer arrival in Pleasant Grove with services. Two millstones were presented to the Pleasant Grove Camp by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. for historical use.
Regular session notes show Walter Reimschussel praising Niels Fugal Sons for water line progress, including head of canyon and ledges sections, with completion on or before the target date. Residents request rezoning south of Alpine Villa Motel for retail and war surplus sales, to be considered after a public hearing.
School room mothers are invited to a Room Mothers Tea in the Lindon school library Friday September 24 at 3 20 pm. Principal James Baird will outline duties and introduce PTA officers and committee. refreshments will be served and attendance encouraged.
Am Legion Auxiliary Post 70 will meet Thursday September 30 at 2 30 pm at 530 East Main Lindon home of President Donna Walker. Dues are 3 00 if paid at the meeting but will rise on October 1.
Pleas ant Grove Garden Club delegates attend the 27th Annual Convention of the Associated Garden Clubs of the state at the Garden Center in Salt Lake City. Officers for the coming year were elected with Mrs. Robert Savage continuing as president. The article notes garden clubs nationwide total 14,500 with 373,656 members and describes their civic beautification and conservation work.
Harvey Rawlinson was installed as President of the Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove at a ladies night banquet. Lt. Gov. Osmond Dunford presided. Louis Gardner became vice president, Homer Robertson secretary, and two year directors include Boyd Fugal Mark Johnson La Mont Brown. Homecoming 1971 72 plans and Viking activities detailed.
Valley View Elementary School invites parents to a 6 15 p m Parents Night in the school auditorium. After a short general session, parents may meet teachers individually. The PTA urges all Valley View parents to attend and connect with the teaching staff.
Evelena Yazzie was crowned Indian Princess at the Utah State Fair last Saturday. She competed with ten other contestants from across the state, each in colorful Indian costumes. Evelena received a trophy a crown and Lift certificates. She is the daughter of Teddy and [unsure] Yazzie of Craibl Arizona and foster daughter of Bishop and Mrs. Lyle Thacker of Pleasant Grove. She attends Pleasant Grove High School.
Dallin H. Oaks the new BYU president told Utah reporters the university objectives are fixed and will remain the same He emphasized BYU aims to teach spiritual and secular knowledge and harmonize them in lives He declined to compare himself with his predecessor and said the news conference was BYU s first under his tenure He discussed campus policy athletics and student relations and noted potential three year degrees under study for broader BYU access
Tonight at 7 30 parents are invited to meet teachers and PTA staff in the junior high auditorium. PTA dues are five cents per person and subscriptions to the PTA magazine cost two dollars and fifty cents per year.
