Lindon Community Fair Set For Saturday September 3

Lindon announces its annual Community Fair to run from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. featuring Shetland ponies and rides, live stock judging with Holsteins Jerseys and Guernseys, 4-H exhibits, horse judging, games for kids, a fire truck demonstration, awards, horse pulling contests, a quadille, and numerous divisions for flowers handicrafts pastries and produce with judges named and committees listed. the event invites residents of Lindon Pleasant Grove and Manila to attend.

MIA Officers and Teachers Will Meet September 6th

September is the date set for the Timpanogos Stake MIA officers and teachers meetings. Ward officers direct the sessions in their wards to outline the coming year's work. At o'clock all stake and ward officers teachers and partners are expected to attend a social at the Second ward with a snappy program entertainment and refreshments.

Auxiliaries Reorganized In Third Ward

In a sacra ment meeting last Sunday the Third Ward reorganized its auxiliaries. In the Primary Avis West was sustained as president with Lillian Huish and Elizabeth Crystal as counselors and Leone Jense as secretary. Sunday school elected Malcolm Christianson superintendent with Eugene Bezzant and John Hilton as counselors, Helen Judd as secretary, and Jeneal Judd as assistant secretary. YW MIA named Emily Pedersen president with Leone Told activity counselor and a second counselor to be chosen. YMMIA chose Parley Christiansen as superintendent with Clarence Rasmussen and Phil Hogard as assistants, Charles Christiansen as scoutmaster. Releases with thanks were granted to several leaders in the Primary, Sunday school, YWMIA, and YMMIA.

Grove Ward Relief Society Visiting Teachers Report Meeting

Grove ward relief society will hold their visiting teachers report meeting and work meeting on Tuesday at 2 o clock. A good attendance is desired.

School Registration Opens September 6 for 1949-50

The 1949 50 school year starts Tuesday September 6 at 9 A M with grades seven to twelve registering at the high school. Principal Karl Banks expects about 580 enrollments. If students miss school to work work permits are issued by Mr Jolley at ten registration. Additional facilities including farm shop industrial arts and the forainch unit will be available after October 4 1949. Regular classes begin September 7.

Central School To Serve Lunch This Fall

Central School will begin serving lunch on Sept 7 in Pleasant Grove, with pricing equal to the prior year once the new building is completed. Mrs Beck notes high school meals will continue separately once the site is ready, as the central facility transitions to the new arrangement.

Gymanfa Ganu Set For Salt Lake City This Sunday

National sacred Welsh hymn festival to be held at the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Sunday afternoon and evening September 4, 1949. The Tabernacle Choir will participate, with William Albert Hughes directing and special trains from Pittsburg and Chicago. About 1500 to 2000 visitors from other states and Canada expected, with practices each Wednesday at 8 PM in Barrett Hall led by Mrs. Lucy M. Baugh to prepare thirty hymns for the event. Local Utah sponsors include W. D. Evans Thomas R. Biggs and Ed M. Rowe.

Auto Races Return Saturday at Pleasant Grove Speedway

Midget races at Pleasant Grove Speedway resume this Saturday after a suspension. LeRoy Griffin, president of the Association, promises improved events with better care and drivers. Attend for an exciting evening of racing at the Pleasant Grove track.

Mothers Club Hosts Canyon Party With Russia Talk

The Mothers' Study Club and guests met at a canyon home in Wildwood last Thursday afternoon. Miss Hermese Peterson delivered a discussion on Russian conditions, reflecting on events from years past. Hostess Mrs. Halliday and Mrs. Ida Halliday served luncheon after the lecture to invited guests and members, including Mrs. Thor, Mrs. Ash, Mrs. Quombs, and others.

Jaycees Hold Board Meeting Plans for Upcoming Year

The Jaycees met last night and laid plans for the coming year. Committees and chairmen were appointed under President Calvin Mills. They will sell season tickets to BYU home games and tickets are available through any Jaycee. Mills announced a Sunday trap shoot at 8 o'clock with all invited to participate.

4 H Clubs Close Up Year's Work in Worth County

Four H clubs held achievement exercises on Thursday August 24 in the small ward chapel. Exhibits were judged throughout the day, with an evening program featuring Mrs. Olten Yancey, project demonstrations, and awards to top displayers. Students and leaders, including Mrs. Glen Vauncey and Mrs. Lukens Warniel, presented sewing, food, and craft demonstrations, with many blue ribbons awarded at county exhibit events.

Orem Celebrates Velvet Highway Opening And Parade

Orem marks the completion of a new Velvet Highway from Ninth North to Plewsh Grove with a two day fest featuring parades at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday plus a barbecue concert street dance and a finale at city park. Two Pleasant Grove Men Elected Officers of County-Wide Organization

Two Pleasant Grove men were elected to leadership roles in a county wide group named Greater Utah Valley Incorporated. A. B. Gibson became First Vice President and Burton H. Adams Second Vice President, with Sterling Price of Springville as head and Doyle Liddle of Payson as Treasurer. The group seeks a slogan to promote Utah Valley as a place to live work and invest, with a contest rules and prize amounts.

Jewelry Shop to Open in Pleasant Grove

In Pleasant Grove a jeweler with strong watch repair service will relocate from Alpine Villa to a new jewelry and watch repair shop west of the Bank of Pleasant Grove in the former Larry's Variety building owned by Blaine Swenson. Naomi Walker was elected president of the Modernette club at a lawn party in City Park. Mrs. Jean Walker became secretary and treasurer, with Mrs. Maxine West as reporter and historian. Retiring officers include Mrs. Virginia Chipman Mrs. Aston Pace and Mrs. Mildred Ferre. A pot luck dinner and anniversary party were held. Virginia Shane joined as a new member.
