Pleasant Grove Lions hosted their annual Lions and Ladies Thanksgiving dinner with three past District Governors Ephraim Twitchell George Jaynes and Maron Oveson and their wives. Deputy district governor Henry Campbell and wife attended as well and praised the club for service and building donations. Guest speaker Twitchell urged greater service declaring Lions ism a way of life and framed Lions as world wide friends. George Fowers was inducted as a new member with Maron Oveson officiating. Utah Power & Light offers free electricity to light about 100 000 bulbs across Utah Idaho and Wyoming cities from November 18 to January 1. The program lights community streets parks and decorations between dusk and midnight with connections by the company as needed. In 1949 the utility provided over 397 000 kilowatt hours for roughly 100 000 bulbs across 14 cities and towns including 6 700 bulbs in 22 southern and southeastern Utah communities.
