Pleasant Grove High School parents will assess the school in a social studies seminar project led by Richard Warnick. About 100 parents, about 10 percent of the student body, will be contacted with a parent questionnaire after meetings with school counselors.
Lindon City Council met with Mayor Stanley Walker presiding. The PTA urged safety steps by the police including closer patrols before and after school, more bicycle clinics for older children, pedestrian safety training, and reestablishing Corner Mothers homes. A subdivision planned in southeast Lindon was noted, with talks on a water storage tank site. A public survey on Pleasant Grove High School, conducted by Mr. Warnick starting Nov 17, will sample parental views on grading, attendance, dress, staff, and work preparation as part of a five year curriculum development program led by Principal John P. Gourley.
The Bank of Pleasant Grove donates 40 monthly copies of the educational edition of Readers Digest to Pleasant Grove High School. The commitment aids reading and research in the English department and aims to foster educational growth and civic-minded citizens. Kay Jacobs of the bank praised the donation and the school expressed gratitude for the support.
The 8th National Boy Scout Jamboree will be at Moraine State Park in Pennsylvania and Farragut State Park in Idaho with Jamboree East August 3–9 and Jamboree West August 1–7. Utah council focuses on Farragut. options include attending with family troop, economy council trip, or deluxe council trip. A meeting set for November 17 at 7 p.m. in American Fork Tabernacle will provide details.
The Timpanogs Chorale of Pleasant Grove will perform at the annual Choral Music Festival in the Provo Tabernacle on Saturday Nov 18 at 1 30 pm under Leslie Rees with Catherine at the piano. The event features 10 choruses and ends with Beethoven hallelujah chorus. Admission is free.
Pleasant Grove Stake Relief Society will hold a leadership meeting Friday November 17 at 10 am in the Pleasant Grove Stake House. The Cultural Refinement Department will supervise the monthly program, with departmental classwork to follow. All ward and stake leaders and teachers are invited. Lindon Elementary School hosts a parents visiting day tomorrow with a visit to see teachers and programs.
Pleasant Grove City Fire Department has purchased a 1953 Crown fire truck with a rebuilt Cummins engine and high pressure water pump from a Salt Lake City firm. The department also owns a American LaFrance truck with 500 gallon tank, a Dodge four wheel drive with 200 gallon tank, a 1,200 gallon tanker with two pumps, and a jeep with hand pump and extra gas. Lately added are four air packs for rescues. There are 29 total firefighters including four old timers, ready to respond within minutes to emergencies. residents are urged to thank the volunteers for their service.
The P G City Council met Wednesday November 8 with most members present except Mayor Jack Cook. Art Steele delivered a monthly progress report noting sewer connection fee review, 35 water and sewer connections in September for new homes, plus 10 upcoming. He advised declaring unused equipment as surplus for sale and the council approved the TZoning change to T R 1 for a Geneva Road trailer court.
Central School PTA organizes a boot exchange Friday at 2 30 p m at the school. Parents may bring children's outgrown boots to trade for larger sizes. A 50 cent charge applies if no boots are available to trade, and donations of usable boots are welcome.
Veterans from August 1964 to present invited to a no charge banquet and program Saturday at the Stake Tabernacle in American Fork. The 7 p.m. event, coordinated by Douglas E. Nicholes, will include Mayors from American Fork Pleasant Grove Lindon Lehi and Alpine. Vietnam era veterans and families urged to attend. contact 756-2228 for invitations.
