Iowa G Hall Receives Governor's Conservation Trophy

Sandra Fish reports Central School teacher Iowa G Hall won the fourth annual Governor's Conservation Trophy for excellence in conservation education. Nominees are submitted by Utah school districts and chosen by the State Conservation Committee. Hall helped establish outdoor education programs across kindergarten through twelfth grade, notably Alpine School Districts summer programs at Tony Grove and its work on Operation Snowbank.

Pleas ant Grove Council approves Eagles lodge request

City council met Monday with Mayor Fordham presiding. Councilman Harmer said the Eagle Fraternity seeks a temporary one year lodge in Pleasant Grove at the vacant Alpine Villa Cafe, until a permanent lodge is built in American Park. Building inspector Holman authorized to attend annual Utah Plumbing Inspectors convention.

Parents Day Set Friday at Pleasant Grove High

Pleasant Grove High School schedules Parents Day for Friday November 15 with two sessions from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Parents should pick up report cards at the office and then visit classes per the card schedule, per Principal Grant Ingersoll. Utah Higher Education Master Plan in Final Stage

Dr Merle E Allen director of the Utah Coordinating Council of Higher Education says the master plan is near completion. A booklet outlining goals and actions to engage public discussion is being prepared to inform recommendations to the 1969 Legislature. Presidents are asked to organize campus discussions involving faculties advisory committees and local groups.

Immunization Clinics Set for Alpine District

The Alpine School District will run district wide immunization clinics for area children starting in November. Under Dean T Worlton. Physicians and school nurses will administer vaccines for diphtheria tetanus whooping cough and smallpox. Forms detailing vaccines and costs must be signed and returned before service. Polio measles and typhoid not included and require private doctors. Schedule lists clinics at London Grovecrest Grove High Grove Jr Central Valley View with dates November through January.

Mark H. Johnson Named as New P.G. City Recorder

Mark H. Johnson was named City Recorder by Pleasant Grove City Council at a recent meeting replacing Millen Dr. Radmall who resigned after 14 years. Johnson, a former assistant recorder, is a BYU junior studying accounting and serves in the Utah National Guard. He completed missions in Norway from 1963 to 1966.

Nixon won the presidency with an electoral vote of 287, Humphrey conceding at 10 a.m. MST. Utah re elected Governor Calvin Rampton by a landslide and several Republicans swept statewide offices including Bennett Burton Lloyd Romney Preece Allen, with all constitutional amendments approved. Utah County lists Republican winners for state representatives and county commissioner seats while a liquor initiative was defeated.

Pleasant Grove Students Plan Art Exhibit During National Art Week

Pleasant Grove High School students under Harold Woolston announce an art exhibit from November 11 to 22 to showcase paintings and crafts. Works will be displayed at the Art Department and corridors inside the school and at the Smith Building on Main Street, Pleasant Grove.
