Daughters Utah Pioneers Elect New Officers At Meeting

The Daughters of Liab Pioneers met at Relic Hall Friday electing officers led by Captain Pearl West. New officers include Myrtle Daybéll Boren president and Cleone Lond Kirk first vice president with Lucille Walker praising past leaders. Also noted were Mr. and Mrs. Don Mack Dalton’s California trip and the obituary of Joseph M. Lindsey, 67, a former Heber resident who died in Salt Lake City.

Miss Bessie Nielson of Salt Lake City spent three days this week with her mother Mrs Larena Nelson. Bruce Fugal left Thursday morning to visit with Mr and Mrs Ira Huntsman and family at Las Vegas Nevada. Mr and Mrs Ernest Clayton and children of Salt Lake City visited Friday evening with Mr Clayton's mother Mrs Stena Chrikton.

Memorial Day Program at Pleasant Grove Cemetery

The Pleasant Grove City Council presents a Memorial Day program Sunday at 2 PM at the Cemetery. Councilman Karl A Teck directs with Dr Howard B Driggs of New York University as speaker. The event features band and vocal numbers, a firing squad salute, and a military male quartet performing In Flanders Fields.

Annual Mater Vehicle Inspection Starts June First

Superintendent P L Daw of the Utah Highway Patrol announces the annual safety inspection of all motor vehicles with Utah plates will begin Tuesday June 1. Vehicles using T and C gas ration books must complete inspection and display stickers. B ration book holders have until August 31. Aa book holders until September 30. Officials urge prompt inspection for safety and wartime efficiency.

Alpine Districts Summer Kindergarten Opens June First

The Alpine School District sponsors a Summer Kindergarten at Central School starting Tuesday June 1 at 9 o'clock with Mrs Daisy N Nelson as instructor. The six week half day course is for children entering first grade next September who have not attended play school. Parents may call Principal Ray S Merrill or Mrs Neilson for details.

Miss Anne Walker Awarded at Brigham Young

Miss Anne Walker daughter of Mr and Mrs H S Walker of Pleasant Grove received the Omega Nu Journalism fraternity award for services in news writing at BYU's annual faculty awards May 17. She earned a student award May 20 for work on the Y news staff while co editing the paper during Ediloy Jim Hecker's absence. She was Pleasant Grove High student body secretary and yearbook editor and is a member of White Key. hon orary women's service fraternity.
