FFA Judging Team Wins State First Place at Logan

The Lovestock judging team of the local FFA chapter won the state contest at Logan. Members Grant Richards Mac Fugal and Lester Draper led the team which will compete nationally in Waterloo Town. Lester Draper placed third individually. the Dairy products team also placed third.

Deanna Rees daughter of Leslie and Mrs Rees was chosen Strawberry Days Queen at a Miss Pleasant Grove pageant sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Karyn Stevens was named Miss Pleasant Grove 17 year old Stevens earned her title with a dramatic reading. Attendants Linda Carson Paulette Johnson Ginny Lee Loader Jo Ann Radmad will join the queen in duties ahead of Strawberry Days events including parades carnival and rodeo June 9 to 11 with visits to notable leaders and a luncheon.

Cedar City Wins State Class B Baseball Title

Cedar City dominates Pleasant Grove with left hander Steve Cahoon Cahoon working five innings and allowing only scattered threats. Keith Allred held Pleasant Grove to little success until mid game as Cedar City’s defense and timely hits pushed them to the title.
