Pleasent Grove High to Hold 1963 Commencement Exercises

Pleasant Grove High School will hold its 1963 commencement Friday evening May 29 at 8 pm with the theme The World Today. Honor speakers include Anne West Doris Woolley Bjorn Brady and Mary Woolston. diplomas will be awarded by R Clark. class presentation by Principal Floyd Holm. Lindon Lions Sponsor Community Park Plan Near Lindon Hall

The Lindon Lions back a town park project in North East Lindon near the old Lindon Hall with hillside seating and a stream to be piped. The memorial recalls Central Park of 1910s with a local baseball roster led by Charley Cobbley and manager Willard Boulter, urging Pleasant Grove residents to support the initiative.

Election of Utah Strawberry Days Queen Miss Pleasant Grove and four attendants will be held next Thursday evening May 28 at First Wail Chapel. George Paul chairs. voters receive ballots on entry and voting closes 10 PM Wednesday May 27 with the six highest totals advancing to the final night contest.

Final Plans For Stake Relief Society Party

Last Monday evening the ward and stake executive officers met at President Margaret J. Olpin’s home to finalize plans for the May party. The event will close the season’s lesson work with a short program, social activities, and a display of hand work. Those in charge will be at the stake recreational hall from ten until twelve, arranging articles. Invitations are being mailed. attendees from Pleasant Grove, Lindon, and Manila are urged to come even without one. The invitation asks all ladies to attend Tuesday May 16 at 2 pm at the Timpanogos Stake House.

West elected to banker's council at Twelfth District meeting

Junius A. West, vice president and cashier of Bank of Pleasant Grove, was elected to the Executive Council of the Independent Bankers Association of the Twelfth Federal Reserve District. The announcement came at the Spring Council meeting in Coronado California. The district represents more than 350 community banks across seven Western States Alaska and Hawaii. President Harry J. Harding reported on actions favoring loans and holding company legislation by the ABA Executive Council.

Jaycees To Have Tape Station Again On Sat

Pleasant Grove Jaycees announce a repeat reflectorized safety tape drive. About one hundred vehicles have received the red tape since the project began, with a taping station planned on Main Street Saturday. Jaycees will apply tape and distribute the safety aid to those unable to attend.

Lindon Lions Purchase Park Site May 20

The Lindon Lions Club accepted the contract and down payment to Stanley Keeteh for eight acres south of his home, marking the park's real start. President Holdaway and others announced a 1953 car raffle to raise funds, with donations flowing from Lindon residents and neighboring communities.

The last Helper baseball team opens Utah Industrial Baseball with a May 27 home game against Pleasant Grove. Mayor Murcott will pitch as a flag ceremony and opening rites lead up to the contest. Pleasant Grove earlier collected 12 hits but scored only five runs as American Fork won. Elliott led PG with four hits, while Robison and Jarman contributed key runs and a double play sparked by Robinson.
