Gay Nineties Revue by Fifth Ward Mutual

Fifth Ward Mutual presents a free Gay Nineties Revue at the high school auditorium Saturday at 8 p.m. with a 50 member cast performing a melodrama and twelve specialty acts under Warren Kirk. Local officers and teachers stage the event. season tickets are on sale at local shops and from board members.

Pleasant Grove City Council Transacts Business at Meeting

Pleasant Grove City Council reported active proceedings with Mayor Wells on vacation. A new subdivision near East and Battle Creek Drive was approved with required costs for water meters, mains, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and road surfacing to be borne by developers. city will assist with some street work. The council also joined the City County Noxious Weed program and urged residents to report weed hotspots for low-cost spraying. Police noted six unlicensed dogs remain. those will be tagged or destroyed soon, as counts drop by about 100. Business licenses are due at the City Treasurer, and an equipment yard next to the Recreation Park is under zoning review with Utah County authorities for outside-city limits compliance.

County Asked To Help Maintain Garbage Grounds

Pleasant Grove Linden and Orem officials urged Utah County to share in Geneva garbage yard upkeep. They asked the commission to assist with hauling dirt and gravel and general maintenance at the disposal facility. The commission took the matter under advisement with promise of early favorable consideration.

Mrs Elvira Smith Olpin observes her 80th birthday with an openhouse at the new home of Mr and Mrs Lewis Olpin 294 East Third South on May 22 from 8 to 9 p m. Wayne Ash Leads Alpine Day Track Meet Victory

Wayne Ash of Pleasant Grove High School was the standout at the Alpine Day track event on the Lincoln High School campus. He won two firsts and a second, scoring 14 of 48 Viking points with wins in discus and shot put and a second in pole vault, breaking the Lincoln record. Junior high results also showed promise with Grant Leonard and Paul Allen among those winning events.

Lindon Guernsey Calf Club shines at Spanish Fork show

Lindon Guernsey Calf Club residents excel at the Utah State Junior Livestock Show in Spanish Fork. Don Hales won fitting and showmanship, Grand Champion ribbon, and two bags of beet pulp. Lar Gillman earned Junior Champion for his helper, with blue and red ribbons and a sportmanship halter. Kenneth McClure received halter for sportsmanship and a red ribbon. Gary Bunter and Paul Gilman earned red ribbons on calves. Aly Gillman leads the club with Larry Gillman reporting.

Lindon Lions Meet Tonight At Lindon Chapel

The Lindon Lions Club meets the Lindon Ward Friday May 21 at 8 pm at the Lindon Chapel. Dinner sponsored by the Lindon Primary Association funds ward budget and invites all teachers with partners. Queen Contest Opens Friday and Pleasant Grove event names

Pleasant Grove hosts a two day set of activities with a May rifle shoot at Dell Bliss brick yard and a Strawberry Day Queen Contest. The shooting event runs Saturday May 22 from noon until dark with prizes for 22 rifle divisions. Contest chair Angitt Harper invites candidates ages five to seven to enter via a five dollar purchase. Votes in the queen contest are tied to customer purchases and proceed through late May to determine the queen and attendants.

Lindon City Council Reviews Building Code At Meeting

Lindon City Council discussed enforcing a building permit for all structures, including those under 25 dollars, with no charge for permits under this threshold. permits must be obtained before building starts, inspected by Clifford Johnson who can explain fire codes. Also noted were water supply for Steve Turscanski, road graveling plans for Reed Gillman, and continued use of the garbage dump with Orem and Pleasant Grove, plus weed control cooperation with the county. Pleasant Grove Juniors Chosen for Girls State Conference

Two Pleasant Grove High School juniors Dorie Cryntinl and Gay Parr were selected to attend Girls State at Utah State Agricultural College Logan in June. The program, sponsored by The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Utah, honors outstanding scholarship and leadership. Their parents are noted, with support from Mothers Study Club and local organizations including Cadets Club and Friendship Club.
