High School Commencement Exercises to be Held Tonight

Tonight at the High School Auditorium the 1a97 graduating class will receive diplomas in an 8 PM ceremony overseen by Superintendent David Gourley. The program features student speakers, music by the mixed chorus, and addresses from Principal F. Warwick and others, including Ruby Johnson and Geraldine Macfarlane.

Range conditions improve as sheep arrive in good shape

Daily servings of vegetables for an adequate diet

Dr. A J Wilson of Utah State Agricultural College notes a family needs three servings of vegetables daily. A yearly plan lists leafy greens, potatoes, and other vegetables with specific weights totaling about 100 pounds of leafy greens and 160 pounds of potatoes per adult, plus 75 pounds of other vegetables and 100 pounds of tomatoes. Family tastes guide choices and preparation can broaden acceptance.

Rainfall Shortage Echoes Across Utah Farmland

Utah faces ongoing drought as moisture deficits rise to new highs for the year. Only a trace of rain since late April, and May’s first 18 days far below normal, threaten growing-season yields. The dust storm of March 18 brought over a third inch, but the water year deficit surpassed one inch. Despite some early moisture protecting non irrigated crops, statewide reports urge more rainfall.

Camp F-43 Enrollees Planned at Soapstone for Summer Work

Fifty enrollees from Camp F-a3 Pleasant Grove head to Soapstone Monday to establish a spike camp and begin building a mess hall and expanded facilities. Snow receding and roads passable, they expect a comfortable summer. Chaplain Curtis led a program with four Pleasant Grove girls, and Camp Pas was inspected by Captain Peterson. The city council met in a routine session Saturday.

Walker Arrowsmith Wedding in Salt Lake Temple

Bernard S. Walker and Wanda Arrowsmith were married Monday May 17 in the Salt Lake temple with President Stephen L. Chipman officiating. A family dinner followed, with relatives hosted in Ogden and at American Park. The couple plan to depart Thursday for their southern home.

The Mantis ward Relief Society hosts a mothers and daughters social Tuesday May 25 at 2:00 p.m. AD members urged to attend and bring daughters.

Seminary Graduation Exercises Sunday at Pleasant Grove Seminary

Pleasant Grove Seminary holds graduation exercises Sunday evening at 7 20 in the stake tabernacle. Three graduates will receive diplomas. The program includes organ preludes, student addresses, musical items, and addresses by local church leaders. The class list features dozens of graduates and several faculty names.

Beloved Mother Dies After Weeklong Illness in Hir Pom

Margaret Harvey Holman 6 wife of Benjamin Holman died at her home after a week of promine poisoning. Born Pleasant Grove January 11, 1873 she was a Daughters of Utah Pioneers member and historian. Survived by husband a son four daughters fourteen grandchildren two brothers and one sister. Funeral Thursday 2:00 pm in the ward chapel with Bishop Frank D Atwood presiding.
