The Associated Civic Club, led by General Chairman Wesley Jense, discussed four major growth issues in Pleasant Grove including sewer expansion, street upgrades, advertising, and housing, noting the Geneva steel plant's nearby workers require housing. a photo exhibit followed.
BE M Barber of Columbia Steel announced Salt Lake City that the 130 million dollar Geneva plant will employ about 4200 workers when operation begins in two years. Fourteen contractors are at work on site with 1200 preparing ground as war boards aid water supply and project progress. A. J. Hulse and R Talbott oversee the project with Office in Salt Lake City.
Abraham Warburton died at his LaPoint home on Saturday May 9 at age 71. He was born in Pleasant Grove, married Anna Hays, and moved to Utah 28 years ago to farm. Survived by widow, three sons, three daughters, two sisters, 13 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
S A Kirk manager of Pleasant Grove Launcher and Supply urges Pleasant Grove residents to share coal now and offer 4 loads instead of final quantities. He warns coal and railroad transport won t be cheaper and calls for releasing equipment for troop and war supply movement.

Youth and workers are urged to pick beets berries cherries peaches pears apples and tomatoes with farm labor shortfall due to enlistments. Mothers received telegrams and telephone calls on Mother's Day. Mrs Pearl EB Dever eaux, Mrs Ethel Fenton, Mrs Archie Boren, Mrs Maude Adamson, and others were named as receiving messages from sons in Australia, Fort Sill, Bentels, Yakima, Fort Lewis, and from various locations.

At a Provo general meeting, S A Kirk of Pleasant Grove Lumber and Supply outlined new federal housing administration rules. Homes for defense workers may be remodeled or repurposed with 94 per room for vital materials including plumbing, wiring, and heating equipment. The revised regulations support construction of complex housing and multiple apartments for defense workers.
The Republicans of Pleasant Grove precinct plan a mass meeting at city hall next Monday evening May 18 to elect 19 delegates to the county convention. The convention will be held May 40 at Provo High School to select new county officers. All qualified Republican electors in Pleasant Grove precinct may participate.

A sixth Intermountain Junior fat stock show will open in North Salt Lake June 2 3 4. Show Manager David Sharp Jr urges FFA and 4-H members to register entries with G Roy Backman by May 18 and to bring a signed financial summary for each animal. Exhibitors must own their cattle sheep or hogs and may not enter multiple divisions. Premiums exceed 3000 with sale proceeds after the show.
City council approves a five member zoning commission with ex officio fire chief and two terms expiring 1944 and 1946. A five member board of adjustments is created with three year terms, both panels to hear appeals and set regulations under state law, members unpaid and removable for cause. The full ordinance appears in this week’s Review.
Candidates for enlistment in class V I, U S naval reserve may apply in person or by letter for full data on this branch. The circular notes expansion to recruit and train prospective naval reserve officers. The secretary of the navy allows enlistment of college students who may continue studies at their own expense and may receive naval training in an inactive status.
Calvin Swenson of this city received four distinct honors Thursday in Provo when he was named president of the Utah County Chapter of the American Institute of Banking. The Utah County Chapter includes bank employees from Lehi to Nephi.
