Funeral 2 pm Saturday For Irving Bullock

Irving Bullock 83 died at Salt Lake hospital Tuesday after a monthlong illness. Born in Pleasant Grove September 13 1801 he was an alderman church worker and longtime lumber company manager. Survived by widow Cotn Carlson and six children plus six grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral 2 pm Saturday with Bishop Lewis Olpin at the First Ward LDS chapel. burial in Pleasant Grove city cemetery. Friends may visit Olpin Mortuary Friday and at the family home Saturday until the service.

Memorial Services Held Sunday For Newell Wright

Impressive memorial service for Sergeant Newell C. Wright who died March 13 from wounds on Luzon Philippines was held Sunday in Windsor ward L D S chapel. The American Legion posted flags and conducted the service with hymns, solos, and a eulogy by speakers including Lieutenant Dean Walker. Taps and benediction followed as the community honored the dead hero with music and remarks.

Chamber of Commerce Dance Promises Music by Local Orchestra

Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce hosts a dance on next Thursday evening May 10 with Howard Nelson and his 10 piece Orchestra providing music. Bob Marrett chairs the committee and guarantees a good time for attending couples. Howard also guarantees to play any requested piece.

War Bond Queens Nominated For Seventh War Loan Drive

Communities may elect their own war bond queen before May 14. For each 25 dollar bond purchased April 1 to May 14, one vote is cast. The state finalist will win a Hollywood trip with a screen test and date with a movie star. Contestant must be 18 to 26 and unmarried. Pleasant Grove High names Colleen Cash as its entrant.

Lacy White Elected Head of Mothers Club

Lacy White named head of the Mothers Club with Tagy Wille as president and Mrs. May Jensen as vice president, Mrs. Vervace Merrill secretary. About 25 members attended a Wednesday luncheon at Mrs. Oral Wright’s home, followed by the game Pet Peeve. Retiring officers include Lucile Walker, Geneva Warnick, and Lydia Dilomstereity.

Seminary Graduation Exercises to Be Held at Pleasant Grove

Stake Seminary graduation exercises are scheduled for Sunday evening at 8 o clock in the Pleasant Grove High School auditorium. Lions Club Nominates Officers At Pleasant Grove Meeting

At the Lions Club gathering in Pleasant Grove City Hall, officers for the coming year were nominated for May 16 voting. Nominations include Por President William C. Smith and M D Radmall. 1st vice president A B Gibson and H W Clark. 2nd vice president Hel Roberwoll and J L Thorne. Directors James L Shane George Jaynes John Duider and Gerald Bellitson. The group also discussed the Gev ent Steel Plant tour, playground equipment for the city park, a clothing drive, road safety measures, and the Siste Road commission pamphlets. A nominating committee led by Dr G Y Anderson with past presidents Rulon W Brimhall Don Mack Dalton Ray S Merrill and Wesley dense chaired. $12.95 was collected for the cancer educational drive.

Parents Day at Central School Planned with May Queen

Central School sets Parents Day for May 11 with a picture show at 9 30 am and a full program after lunch. Principal Ray Morrill PTA president Mr Morgan and vice president Mrs Sumasion organize events plus a May Queen election in which three entrants remain after votes. Bond and stamp sales reach 88 dollars as community support grows.

Enjoyable Trip Through Geneva Steel Plant

A Pleasant Grove Lions sponsored tour directed by Lion President H. Hilton took 110 people through the Geneva Steel Plant on a Wednesday visit. The group included 60 Pleasant Grove High School science students, led by John Dutler, with guides from Geneva Steel offering full access and courteous conduct from hosts and students alike.
