Clean-up Campaign Moves Forward in City

The Clean-up and Beautifying campaign advances under the central committee led by Mrs P Pugh and Mayor Sean Johnson. Members include H V Swenson Tom Fenton Hyrum C Robertson Christiansen Jesse Thorne Stanley Keetch and Stanley Harris with ward committees to be named soon. The drive urges residents to beautify homes by planting flowers and trees to improve safety and harmony.

Pleasant View High School Lectures Impress Students

The health department of the Ine School District presented Katie C. Jensen, instructor of personality development at the L. D. Business college, to Pleasant Ive High School. She delivered talks on personality development to the senior high and girls and on grooming to the junior girls. Students praised the lectures and the speaker's engaging personality.

Funeral Services Held for Earl C. Smith in Provo Stake

Funeral services for Earl Conrad Smith who died March 16 at Ayrd hospital in Provo were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the stake tabernacle with Bishop Junius A. West presiding. Speakers included Joseph Adams, Burton Adams, and Frank Atwood. A large crowd attended and graveside rites occurred in Pleasant Grove City cemetery.

First Ward Plans New Chapel in Pleasant Grove

At a ward mass meeting the First ward of Pleasant Grove decided to erect a ward building soon. A committee including Lewis Olpin as chairman was chosen to locate a suitable site. A banquet and program followed, with Orville Larson as toastmaster and local residents performing music and toasts from church leaders. The move aims to unite the ward after recent division and ease meeting congestion at the stake tabernacle. Community good wishes are offered.

Pleasant Grove News Roundup of Local Visits and Moves

Pleasant Grove residents and relatives are noted in a series of visits moves and community events. George Barcon and family hosted parents, Archie Borets traveled to California with son Lavell, and Mrs. Josephine Berganti with daughter Ruth visiting Lake View and Vineyard. Erma Waller returned from Garfield after helping care for a pneumonia patient. Several residents moved back or into new homes, attended conferences, or hosted gatherings, including a Lions Club birthday event in Salt Lake and Easter themed dinners with local families. A long list of visitors from nearby towns attended funerals for Earl C. Smith and business courses in Salt Lake City.

Manila 4-8 Club Girls Record Prize Celebration

The 4-8 Club girls of Manila met at Mrs. Lorena Warnick’s home to classify Victor records. They received 120 Victor records as a prize and a walnut cabinet arrived as part of the prize last week. The group plans a Manila ward musical to display their prizes later.

Early Morning Easter Service Planned by Third Ward

Lindon Ward Reorganizes Under Stake Presidency

In a Lindon ward meeting Sunday night the stake presidency announced a reorganization. Bishop Charles A Cobbley was released and Leonard Walker was sustained as bishop with William Dittmore as first counselor and Wren A Tomlinson as second counselor. Edna Fugal hosted her Sunday School class Friday evening with games and refreshments.

Births Report From Las Vegas Family On March 18

Mrs C A Fugal marked an unusual birthday with a new granddaughter born Thursday March 18 at her home. The infant is the second child of Mr and Mrs Ire Huntsman of Las Vegas Nevada.
