Timpanogos Stake Gold and Green Ball Crowned Queen

A large Pleasant Grove High School crowd attended the Timpanogos Stake Gold and Green Ball on March 17. The Third ward loyalty won crown as Miss Mildred Christiansen was crowned Queen of the Gold and Green Ball. Archival procession featured Tommy Grua and Archue Wright as attendants with ward queens from Windor, First, Second wards and Manila. Twenty couples then demonstrated the Gold and Green dance.

Scouts Court of Honor Held

The Boy Scout Court of Honor met Thursday evening at the seminary building with A. H. Lowe Fred Co Shoell J. R. Halliday and Vilace Radmall in attendance. Honors awarded include 19 second class 4 first class 64 merit badges 2 eagle palm scouts and 2 life ranks to named scouts.

Daughters of the Pioneers Hold Business Meeting

The Daughters of the Pioneers held a Sunday afternoon meeting at 3:50 led by Captain Idella F Walker. Mrs Ethel F West was invoked, Rose B Hayes named delegate to the state convention, and May Graa Lucille H Walker and Millie Poulson named delegates to the county convention on March 23. Annie Holman will present suggested names for county officers, with officer installing later.

City Council Hears Report on Work Saturday Session

City council presided by Mayor Lewis E. Olpin heard street and utility plans to start westward work from the Delbert Walker corner if funding allows. Committee reports noted 1600 feet of 10 inch pipe, graded streets, fence projects, and cesspool and septic work. A railroad collision case involving John Willard Smith and Eva Logsdon Smith seeks 100000 damages with Helen Smith as sole heiress. City officers study wood road into hills north of Grove Creek

A city official and a team from the forest service and local citizens rode to inspect a possible wood road from Battle Creek canyon to Curley Springs via the old Driggs drag road. They estimate a 10 to 15 percent grade and note nearby wildlife including deer and elk.

Wasatch Club event a major social highlight this season

Ten Years Ago Now notes the Wasatch Club picture show banquet and ball draw big crowds with over 200 tickets sold. The Junior Prom at the local high school was a social and financial success, featuring a grape arbor decor. Mr and Mrs George F Richards returned from California. Guy Sundberg deputy auditor of Utah County for three months resigns on April 1 to join the International Harvester Co. of America. Byard Allen of Manila finished a radio set and reports an unusual California broadcast for its size. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith welcome a baby boy born March 20. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kirk joyfully announce a baby boy born Wednesday morning. The Relief Society of the First ward surprised Mrs. Caroline E Walker on her 74th birthday Tuesday.
