The Strawberry Days Association selects the 1976 Queen Pageant Committee with co chairs Lea Virginiad Ault and Dixie Beck. Volunteers handle luncheon, makeup, dance, programs, tickets, publicity, and staging as contestants prepare for the May 1 pageant at Pleasant Grove High School.

Lindon City Council Hears Regular Meeting Updates

Lindon City Council met on March 1 with Douglas Johnson presiding in place of Mayor Willard Johnson. The meeting covered police activity, park improvements, sewer connection fees, zoning planning requirements, and the upcoming Lindon Fair set for July 31.

Star Spangled Girl Opens Monday Night at Alhambra

Neil Simon play opens Monday night March 22 at the Alhambra Theater in Pleasant Grove as a family night entertainment. Joel A. Osborne and Jonathan Stowers star as editors of an underground paper with Julie Defrex as The Star Spangled Girl. Family night pricing includes $7 per family, with regular admission $2.00 adults, 3.50 children and seniors, 1.75 students. Curtain at 8:00 pm March 22 to March 30.

Pleasant Grove Strawberry Queen Pageant Seeks 1976 Entrants

Six local beauties from Lindon Manila and Pleasant Grove compete for the Strawberry Days Queen title in 1976. Entrants must be high school graduates or seniors, aged 16 to 26, living in the area six months. They will perform in three divisions and three minute talent routines count for half the final score. The top six will handle radio TV and parade appearances with the coronation set for May 1 in the Pleasant Grove High School auditorium.

Utah Tech College Spring Quarter Opens March 23

Utah Technical College at Provo announces spring quarter starts March 23 for both day and evening schools. New student registration for day school is March 22 from 6 30 p m to 4 30 p m and continuing students are to be pre registered. Evening school has multiple registration slots from March 15 to 25 with varied times. Virtually unlimited openings exist in day school for fields like business management general education and nursing aides while limited spots stay in craft studies including auto repair.

Lindon Lions Welcome District Governor at Meeting

The Lindon Lions hosted District Governor Wendell Vance who spoke on club matters including a new chartered club, memberships, and the state convention to be held at Vedar City May 20 21 22. He discussed district governor candidates, nominations of officers, and a March 20 event at Lehi Jr High. The governor thanked the club for park work and announced the annual broom sale to sweep up the town.

Steven Sorenson Receives Governor Scholarship at Pleasant Grove High

Pleasant Grove High School reports Steven L. Sorenson has been chosen for the Governor's Scholarship. The governor and Mrs Rampton host a dinner for scholars on May 30, with Steve and his parents attending at the Peak Seasons House in Salt Lake. Sorenson plans to study at Utah Technical College in Provo to pursue electrician training.

Spring Clean Up Set in P G for Saturday Apr 10

The Pleasant Grove spring cleanup is scheduled for Saturday April 10 1976. Citizens should place yard waste at curb by 1:00 pm for city trucks and equipment to haul to the dump. City crews will begin at 1:00 pm and work through town, with Councilman John Huntsman in charge and a city beautification chairman to be chosen soon to assist.

Elder Dilworth Young to Preside at Timpanogos Time Conference

Elder Dilworth Young of the First Council of Seventy will preside at the Timpanogos Stake Conference March 20 and 21 at the Stake Center. He authored youth biographies and poetry. the weekend features youth and leadership meetings with invited stake and ward leaders, bishops, and families. President David C. Harvey will conduct the Sunday 10 a.m. session.

City council members met Tuesday with Mayor Haynie presiding. Frank Mills reported final easements are acquired and will go to the State this week. bids may be advertised this Saturday if reviews are finished, otherwise the following Saturday. Utility costs may force a budget change.

Mayor Haynie invites Pleasant Grove and American Fork residents to a Friday March 19 information meeting about the proposed regional wastewater treatment plant and city bonds. A Q and A session will follow to address concerns and explain plans while council members discuss cemetery use and a vacant director post.

Four Honored by Friends Club at BYU Skyroom Banquet

The District Friends Club held its first awards banquet at the BYU Skyroom with Hartman Rector Jr as guest speaker. Awards honored Pleasant Grove members including Jolene Monson for best secretary Bryan Robbins for outstanding public relations Nancy Hurd for outstanding leadership and Principal John P Gourley for outstanding administrative supervision. The Friends Club matches high school students with elementary students for a minimum three month program with weekly contact.
