Pleasant Grove won first place with 132 points in the region individual events competition, American Fork second with 124, Uintah third with 69, and 20 PG students qualified for state at BYU Friday through Saturday. Vikings finished second in a tense 3 A state final that went to overtime. Hingham led late in extra time before PG battled back, misfortune on a 12 foot shot decided the title as the Vikings and Miners battled for supremacy. Debate results show Keelch 4-0 with several top scorers, including Min son and Harvey.

Don Fenton son of Don and June Fenton was elected District Friends President. The Friends Club covers Utah County and parts of Salt Lake City and Idaho. Don, a Pleasant Grove High junior, fronts drama and music and belongs to FELA French Club and Concert Choir. The program, cosponsored by CAA and Spanish Folk Jaycees, links college and high school members to befriend elementary students.
