Areas of Agreement in Labor-Management Relations

Eric Johnston argues that industrial peace hinges on recognizing and expanding areas of agreement between labor and management. He recalls forming broad coalitions among the Chamber of Commerce, manufacturers, CIO, and AFL, meeting with FDR, and launching joint war production committees. He warns postwar dislocation if cooperative channels fade and urges voluntary, not legal, alignment to avoid government compulsion.
