Teachers Plan Goal Setting Conference Next Thursday

Alpine Teachers Association President Ford M Paulson announced a Goal Setting Conference for March 10 at Westmore School in Orem. Teachers and administrators will join groups to tackle five topics including public relations teacher education professional standards school finance professional relations and organization of AEA and AEA Utah teachers groups. Sessions start at 12 30 p m and run to evening with all Alpine District staff expected to attend.

February Weather Delivers Mixed News in Pleasant Grove

Local U S Weather observer Calvin Walker notes February brought both gains and losses. Pleasant Grove saw 2.27 inches of precipitation versus a 1.50 inch normal. Temperatures dipped to a record low on February 11 and hit a record high on February 15, with an average 15 degrees. March arrived in like a lamb.

District DUP Meet in Lindon Friday March 4

The North Utah County Daughters of the Utah Pioneers district meeting will take place in the Lindon Ward. The officers board meeting starts at 1 30 p.m. and the regular district meeting at 2 p.m. All camp representatives are invited and class work will follow opening exercises.

Overloaded Classrooms Strain Alpine District Schools

Study shows Alpine District faces heavy overcrowding with 103 high school rooms housing 3,545 students, an excess of 764. American Fork High School has 25 rooms with 835 students, Lehi High 19 rooms for 602, and Pleasant Grove High 19 rooms for 664. Elementary schools run 1,860 students above normal, Cedar Valley least affected.
