Viking Wrestlers Take Runner-Up at State Tourney
Pleasant Grove finished second in the State 3-A wrestling tournament at the University of Utah Special Events Center. Utah led with five champions and 158 points to PGs 133 as both schools advanced seven finalists. Vikings include David Sherod at 119 who defeated Jordan’s Tony Seiverts for the crown. Kendall Voorhees, son of Don and Sheryl Voorhees, is noted. Governor Rampton honored craftspeople. Matheson backs the program with thirty scholarships again this year.

Victor Viklund will celebrate his 80th birthday on March 6 with a family dinner. Born March 6, 1897 in Sweden, he joined the LDS Church at age 12 and moved to Utah with his sister. He married Louise Bullock, later widowed, and then Florence Kolstead. they reside in Lindon with five children and stepchildren.

At Tuesday session the city accepted the lowest bid for a 4611 000 bond issue from Bank of Pleasant Grove and Continental Bank at 6.6944 percent net rate, total interest 434 348 over 20 years. The council donated a flag pole to the American Legion and discussed use of the old junior high gym after legal approvals. Cable TV franchise talks began with Grant Atwood and the city attorney, while shade tree concerns prompted plans for tree care outreach and 200 booklets on tree pruning for public use.
