Centennial Homecoming Planned at Mutual Dell July 4

Central Committee of the stake sponsors a full day celebration at Mutual Dell for the Timpanigos Centennial Homecoming. A Pioneer Trek begins at 5:00 a.m. from city park, with multiple ball games at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Ladies races, horse shoes, dancing, and pioneer stories fill the afternoon. Transportation help available, and officials list names of committee members and chairs.

Springville Centennial Homecoming Week Schedule

Springville gears up for a four day centennial homecoming starting July 1 with an outdoor Western dance at the high school tennis courts. July 2 features a 7:39 pm program at Fourth Ward Church and a city park band concert, plus a daytime district activities. July 3 includes a 2 pm trapshoot at Hobble Creek canyon, a 6 pm Main Street miniature parade, and races at Spring Acres track. July 4 opens with a sunrise salute and children’s events, followed by repeat trapshooting and a 5 pm mammoth parade, then Midget Auto races at Spring Acres at 8 pm to close.

The Thorne family gathered Sunday at Alton and Fern Thorne Bigelow’s Springville home for lunch and visiting. Forty eight members attended including Patriarch and Mrs Thorne, Clinton Thorne, Milton A Thorne and family, Wallace and Elaine Thorne Manvill, J A Thorne Bigelow and family, plus Alvin Gillman and others. The group had also attended a reunion at Vivian Park on June 24. Mrs Anni Harris of San Diego recently returned from a three week visit with her son K P Harris.

Sunset Services Sunday 7:30 at Amphi Theatre

Next Sunday evening July 2 at 7 30 pm the Timpanogos Stake will hold its annual Sunset Services in the Amphi theatre at the State Training School. Reunion of 1941 Pleasant Grove graduates gathers for a cordial return

About twenty five members of the 1941 Pleasant Grove High School class and partners met last Saturday at the Third Ward chapel in a joyful reunion. Wm. C. Smith represented the faculty. A committee for the next gathering was named with Dale Pusat Tyler Rogers and Helen Ho Wels. Prizes went to Leslie Neves for traveling farthest to attend and to Venice Sacobs Wugal for having the most children. Dale Fugal organized dance mixers and music games.

Centennial Marked By Tri Stake Programs

Alpine Leh and Timpanogos Stake residents are invited to a two day Centennial celebration on July 23 and 24. July 23 features an evening program at the Amphitheatre of the State Training School honoring early Alpine Stake leaders. July 24 offers games, a prize queijo, a baseball game, lunch, a variety show, fireworks, and a dance at Latona MIA hall with performances by MIA dancers from the three stakes.

The Utan Tuberculosis association will station a portable X-ray machine in front of the Grove theater in Pleasant Grove on July 6 7 8 11 and 12. Hours vary by day with morning and afternoon slots and the goal is chest X rays for every resident over 15 years old.

The Wright family gathered at Canyon Glen to honor Annie P Wright on her 80th birthday anniversary with a hot lunch for relatives from Provo Lehi Clearfield Salt Lake City and other nearby communities. The Pleasant Grove department fought a blaze at the Raymond Yano home in Lindon on Monday night. Fire destroyed the barn and related structures valued at an estimated loss, with responders unable to save the buildings.
