Canning Plant Upgrades and Expanded Capacity

Reports detail Grove factory remodeling including a new receiving area porch, larger unload space, updated glass lined tanks and improved floors. Officials hope the improvements will boost labor capacity and help sustain seasonal canning production for beans berries and tomatoes later this year.

OND Ward plans an outing at Dell with musical numbers and a biogramy by Nellie Blackwell. Scouts will perform stunts as Wesley Curtis and James A. Nel present. Mrs Peterson leads the girls with Joe and Bill Peter in charge of the boys.

Lindon ward plans a three day outing at Mutual Dell July 1 2 and 3 with Tuesday as ward day. A camp fire program features singing and prayer duets readings guitar and piano solos plus a retold story and a welcome by Chas Cobbley. Boy scouts oversee Tuesday afternoon events and other groups share in the entertainment lineup.

Yale camp Daneliters enjoy banquet near Timpanogos Cave

The Yale camp of the Daneliters of the Pioneers of Salt Lake spent a Friday breakfast at Timpanogos Cave Camp American Fork canyon. They then visited the Second ward chapel where Relief Society cooks served a luncheon amid rose baskets and decorative flowers. The Salt Lake ladies praised the chapel and the cordial service.

Band Concerts Move to Seminary Park Location

A weekly Wednesday band concert schedule changes. Races? No. Concerts will be held starting next Wednesday just west of the Seminary building in City Park.

Lowe Engagement Plans Salt Lake Temple Wedding

Mr and Mrs A H Lowe announce the engagement of their daughter Bessis to Pan Cochran son of Mr and Mrs Carl Cochran of Provo with a wedding set for Salt Lake temple on Tuesday July 2. A shower honored Miss Lowe Thursday hosted by Miss Thora Hales and another shower will be hosted in Provo this afternoon. After marriage the couple will honeymoon at the San Diego California fair. Neighbors and friends held a social at the Ball home with games and chat to celebrate the marriage of Mr and Mrs Ed Ball.

Old Folks Day At Geneva Highlights Community Outing

About 900 aged residents from Alpine Timpanogos and Lehi enjoyed the Geneva summer outing. Ellis Peterson of Lehi hosted a program with talks, music, dances, readings, and tributes followed by a hot dinner and a hearty lunch.

Funeral Services Held for Alfred Downs

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p m in the Windsor ward chapel for Alfred Downs who died Tuesday at a Provo hospital after surgery for a ruptured appendix. Bishop Stanley B Harris led prayers and remarks with several speakers and musical numbers, followed by interment in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Manila Ward Outing Charms Members With Programs

Manila ward members enjoyed a multi day outing at Mutual Cell with young and older officers in charge. Fifty one members stayed at the Dell and participated in games radio television and dances. A Monday hike to Giver Lake involved over forty members while Gypsy campfire and dance events drew large groups each evening.

Hans A. Laursen Dies After Short Illness

Hans A. Laursen 71 died at his home after a two week illness from high blood pressure and complications. He was born December 26, 1863 in Denmark and married Petrea Laursen May 9, 1884. The couple emigrated to America in 1849 and lived in Alban Nebraska Murray Utah American Fork and Pleasant Grove. He worked as a blacksmith and is survived by his widow and ten children plus 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove Second Ward chapel conducted by Bishop B. H. Adams. viewing will be in the Relief Society room Friday prior to service.
