Recreational Program Outlined At Civic Meeting

A summer recreation program outlined by representatives of civic, school, and church groups. Leland A. Clark elected President, Karl Banks Secretary-Treasurer. Directors include Calvin Walker and Irwin Jensen with Jaycee Wives and Cadmus Club sponsors. Past year receipts $1997.88, expenditures $1061 plus salaries and supplies. About 1587 participants in activities like Softball, Tennis, Playgroup, Dancing, Music, Handicraft, Story Hour, Skating. The coming schedule lists daily play, swimming, bands, and instrument lessons across Pleasant Grove, Lindon, Alpine District. Special thanks to Cadmus Club and Jaycee Wives for voluntary work.

The Strawberry Days committee expresses appreciation for Pleasant Grove growers who supplied top quality strawberries. The Boys softball league schedule by director Calvin Walker outlines junior and senior divisions with games at 7, 8, and 9 p.m. from June to July, including matchups, venues, and weekly results.

Johnson Green wedding and Gannett family reunion in Provo

Announced Edna Mae Johnson and Howard Vance Green wed at the bride's home with Bishop Arch Pulnam officiating. The couple will live in Provo. Observed forty second wedding anniversary with a Gannett family reunion at their Parental home over a two day visit. Attendees include H W and Maurine Gannett Simmons and many descendants from Pres ent, Maya, Las Vegas, and Pleasa nt Give areas.

Mrs Arvilla Harvey Elected President of Auxiliary

Mrs Arvilla C Harvey was elected president of the American Legion Auxiliary for the coming year at the Harvey home. Lillian Ellis and Thelma Adamson were named first and second vice presidents, with Mary Jensen sergeant at arms Erma Tomlinson color bearer Sylvia Peterson historian and Ida Pierson chaplain. Reports were read and plans made to attend the state convention in Salt Lake City in August.

Kay Jacobs Elected Commander At The American Legion Post 70

Kay Jacobs, World War II veteran, was elected commander of American Legion Post No. 70 at the annual officers’ election held Monday at City Hall. Nella Neilson oversaw the process. other officers named include W. M. Hinton as 1st commander, A. J. Rogers as 2nd vice commander, Karl Banks, Irwin Jensen as chaplain, Milton Adamson as historian, Elio Green as sergeant at arms, H. Robertson as service officer, Robert Shoell as athletic officer, William C. Smith for child welfare, and A. B. Gibson for reemployment services.

Rowland-Hilton Marriage Is Announced

Rowland of Orem announces the marriage of Evelyn Rowland to Robert J. Hilton son of Mr and Mrs W Hilton of Pleasant Grove. The vows were held at the Salt Lake LDS temple on Tuesday June 10. Parents of the bride and groom attended along with the groom’s sister in law Mrs Mavis Hilton. A reception was held Thursday at the Timpanogos ward house in Orem. The couple plan to reside in Pleasant Grove.

Sunday Evening In the Churches in Ward Program

In the First ward the Beck family presents a Sacrament meeting program on Sunday evening June 1. In the Third Ward the J C Burton family sponsors the program. In the Second Ward J A Washburn of Duchesne L D S Seminary will speak on the centennial topic with temple highlights. Gord muse is prepared and a scriptural song by Guyman Adams will be offered by Norman Hall and presented by Glue Walker. Donham and Ash will present the Grove ward Sacrament meeting next Sunday evening with counselor J H L Armit Stead in charge.

Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Wm. Christiansen

Funeral services for William Christiansen were held Tuesday at the Pleasant Grove First Ward chapel with Bishop Alroy Gillman presiding. The service featured organ solos, tributes on death as a transition, and readings including a poem Everybody Liked Him. He died at his Lindon home after a lingering illness. survivors include his widow, six children, 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers, and many relatives.

Flag Day Observed in Sharon Ward with Patriotic Program

Funeral services were held for Kendall Woulter Boulter 39 in Sharon ward chapel. He died June 6 of a heart ailment and was a public accountant and active LDS member. Parents Bishop and Mrs. Lewis E Olpin hosted a wedding reception in the First Ward LDS Recreation Hall honoring Kathryn Olpin and Stanley L Weeks after their Salt Lake temple marriage.
