Thousands Celebrate Utah Strawberry Days Parade and Rodeo

Thousands of former Pleasant Grove residents gathered for the Utah Strawberry Day celebrations in a long running homecoming event. Floats from local businesses wards and civic groups led a colorful parade with queen and riding club entries. The rodeo opened with top acts and skilled riders while the band performances and announcer helped frame a well organized event. Local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce received praise for funding floats and supporting the festivities.

Two Local Boys Graduate From University of Utah

Benjamin G Walker and Leroy HB West graduate from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Walker earns a B S in Electrical Engineering from the School of Engineering and West earns a B S in Mechanical Engineering. The class marks the largest group of graduates to date.

Two More Parades Planned for Utah Strawberry Days

Two additional parades are scheduled for Utah Strawberry Days. The Friday 6 PM parade will duplicate Wednesday’s route, and the Saturday 6 PM livestock parade will feature Riding Clubs, Sheriff's Posse rodeo performers, and others interested.

Hitchhiking Boys Overcome by Gas Fumes On Parade

Pleasant Grove youngsters, three sons of the Peay family and one son of the Johnsons, rode a queen’s float in a Wednesday evening parade. They crawled under and around the back of the float, carbon monoxide fumes left two boys semi conscious at the corner of Genter and First. Doctors treated the youths, who later recovered. a safety note urged extending exhausts and ensuring air for float drivers.

4 H Clubs Fashion Review Draws Local Girls

The 4 H Clubs of Lindon Manila and Pleasant Grove staged a fashion review last Thursday at Lindon trader Me's Viol ence Gillman house. Leaders included Joyce Jacobs Maxine Adamson and Margaret Meeks with music by Helen E. Wels and Charmane Iverson. Simplicity Pattern Company sponsored costumes and mothers attended as guests. Spot Robbed Tuesday Night For $500 Est Loss

A Tuesday night robbery at the Spot resulted in an estimated loss of about $500. Per proprietor Harry Hendrivlsom, the thief or thieves took roughly $100 in cash and $200 in merchandise, including three watches a 22 caliber pistol rings and other small items.
