Adobe Walls Battle Remembered By Frontier Historians
Eloquent reminiscence recounts the 1874 Adobe Walls clash when 28 defenders held off a 600 to 700 strong coalition of Comanche Kiowa Cheyenne and Kiowa Apache until relief and military action ended the siege. Notable figures include Bat Masterson Billy Dixon and William Olds among others. The site now bears three monuments commemorating the battle and its survivors.
