Keith Story Installed as New President of Central Utah Asia

Keith Story is installed as president of the Central Utah Pharmaceutical Association and Auxiliary with Wallace Peterson as president elect. The group celebrated at an Oak Crest Inn installation dinner. Irene Beveridge and Diane Giles, Peasant Grove students, won scholarships to Ricks College for 1969-70.

Priesthood Trail Ride Draws 74 Bearers

The Melchizedek Priesthood ride occurred Saturday July 19 1969 with 74 participants. They gathered at the Parking Place Lin don at 9 15 a m prayed by Gerald Belliston rode to Aspen Grove for lunch at noon where Reed Peterson presided and Paul R Cheesman of BYU spoke before groups split to Grovecreek Dry Creek Canyon and trailers.

Cloyd Atwood to Teach Seminary Program

Cloyd P. Atwood of Lindon has been accepted to teach in the Church's Seminary program. A BYU English major with German minor, he served a Swiss mission 1962–64 and has coached and taught in various auxiliary roles. Arthur T. Watson Honored as Agency Member

Arthur T. Watson of 1020 North 1st Mast was named an honored agency member of the Provo Agency of Beneficial Life Insurance Co. The Provo Agency received Beneficial Life’s President's Cup for excellence across five areas and was celebrated at a July 21 dinner on the Brigham Young University campus Wilkinson Center, with Phil D. Two Young Men Return Early from Vietnam Tour

Pleasant Grove area soldiers Sp. 4 Duane Ekins and Sp. 4 Nelson Seely of the 250th Quartermaster Battalion returned home after about ten months of active duty in Vietnam. Ekins received the Army Commendation Medal in Provo with Col. Sterling R. Ryser presenting it. both men came home under an early-out arrangement with a small detachment. Ekins lives in American Fork with his wife Jeanette McDaniel. Seely and his wife Patricia Chatwin reside in Provo, with Seely starting BYU studies in music and languages.

Cascade Scenic Drive Nearing Final Completion

Cascade Scenic Drive in American Fork Canyon nears completion per Uinta National Forest supervisor Clarence S Thornock. The six and a half mile route connects Alpine Scenic Drive to Midway Deer Creek road, offering access to Wasatch Mountain State Park and Cascade Springs. Official opening awaits Forest Service acceptance. current contract with Strong Co calls for a gravel surface with hard surfacing planned in about two years.

Alpine District Receives Federal School Funds

Rep Laurence J Burton announced about 139000 in federal funds for Alpine Garfield and Carbon School Districts. Alpine gets 88786 Garfield 35377 and Carbon 14814 with future entitlements possible. Funds come via the Office of Education.

Pleasant Grove Council Considers Road Bend Cleanup

Mayor Jay F Harmer and the Pleasant Grove City Council discussed a proposed road from Locust Avenue to Highway 91 and the city’s responsibility for rough grading while property owners would improve. The session also covered a culinary water line along the road and a list of residents requesting removal of old auto bodies hauled to the Pleasant Grove Orem Marina.

Pleasant Grove Scouts Earn Conservation Training Scholarships

Two Pleasant Grove Scouts, Scott Wall and Ed Darrell, are among ten Utah National Parks Council youths awarded Conservation Training Camp scholarships at Philmont Ranch New Mexico. Selected from 60 junior leaders after a Payson Canyon training week, the trip is funded by McDonald’s Hamburgers. Wall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Wall, is a Star Scout from Troop 17 Ameri can Fork and Post 16, with July 27 to August 8 planned at Philmont.
