Pleasant Grove music schedule announced by Kevin Jensen lists Advanced Band sessions on Tuesday Thursday and Friday at 7 30 p m Advanced Strings on Monday and Wednesday at 7 00 p m Beginners Band on Monday and Wednesday at 8 00 p m and Beginners Strings on Monday and Wednesday at 5 00 p m An afternoon 4 00 p m session covers smaller groups The course is free and a concert is planned for the last part of next week The band will attend Poultry Day at American Folk on July 29 prompting full rehearsal attendance

A splendid program will be given Sunday night at the First ward meeting house. A live committee led by H. A. Beck Mrs. Donna Olpin Ash and Mrs. Joseph Day is arranging the event. They urge every ward member to attend and support the undertaking.

Payson Man Dies at Pleasant Grove

John Peart, 45, of 380 West 2nd South St, Salt Lake City, died suddenly at Pleasant Grove on Sunday after his family stopped for medical help. A World War veteran and barber by trade, he is survived by his wife, two daughters and three sons. The family was en route to Salt Lake City to take Mr Peart to the Veterans Hospital when he died.

Funeral Services Held for Isaac Carlson

Funeral services for Isaac Carlson who died suddenly July 12 were held at the stake chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. with Bishop Allgood in charge. The service featured musical numbers by Stella Hardman, Viol Beers, and Reva W. Pugal, with prayers, solos, and readings by family and church leaders. The City cemetery grave was dedicated by Niels Fugal.

Andrew Jensen assistant church historian and his wife celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary at the home of Dan Adams in Manila Mrs Adams is a Jensen niece The aged couple wished a quiet day and Mrs Adams served a chicken dinner Mr Jensen previously lived in Pleasant Grove before arriving in this country as a boy from Denmark

Elder Cowley to Speak at Stake Genealogical Meeting

Matthias F. Cowley former LDS Apostle will speak at the Third Ward chapel Sunday afternoon and again at night for the ward Genealogical Society. The event aims for a full house to hear his experiences. Stakes genea members urged to attend and there will be no class work that day. Stake Primary Board met with eight members and a General Board council for winter class work. The Stake Genealogical Board meeting was held at the Hilton home.

Final rites for LeRoy Holman were held Sunday at 400 m in the stake tabernacle. Speakers included Junius P. Sharp and W. W. Warnick, with tributes to Annie Holman and a battery of church leaders. The service featured solos by Reva W. Pugal and the closing prayers by H. P. Davis.

A historical recap notes payments of 75.0 to strawberry growers by H. W. Jacobs Co and wages for packing help. Five coronds of berries shipped, arriving in Eastern markets in fine condition. An inspection of remaining crop at Provo cold storage found it ready to ship. Also covered are forestry visits by Mr. Shepherd in Pleasant Grove, Timpanogos cave notes, a band concert directed by E. A. Beck, Mrs. Packard’s Provo solo, and the 95th birthday reunion for Christena H Williamson’s family at Geneva with 200 guests.

Kay Merrill Attends National C C Convention

Kay Merrill educational advisor of the local C. C. Camp attended a four day National C. C. convention at Berkeley California from July 6 to 10 He reports about 90 members from across the United States attended in his department of the service. Mrs Merrill accompanied her husband on the trip. After the convention they visited his ill mother at Salurats California near his sisters.
