Funds earmarked for Silver Lake Flat Reservoir project

The U S Soil Conservation Service has authorized about 430000 for a multipurpose Silver Lake Flat reservoir in the Battle Creek Dry Creek watershed. The project will store over 1000 acre feet, support irrigation and a 4 fishery, and provide flood protection. Walker Construction Co. to build a bypass road. bids to follow. some work planned this fall. SCS will provide engineering services.

Campout for County Handicapped Kids Planned in Utah

The annual campout for Utah County Handicapped Children and their families will be held Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19 at Balsam Park in Springville Canyon. The camp opens Friday noon and runs to Saturday noon with meals, fishing, a campsite program, Smokey the Bear, and arts and crafts.

Arts and Crafts Program Schedules Summer Session

Bob Scholes announced a new 7 to 10 am time for the second section of the summer arts and crafts program. Classes start Tuesday July 22 and run each Tuesday and Thursday through August 7. Registration for the remaining three weeks costs 7 cents at the north end shop area of the Jr High School.

Jay Schoonover a former Pleasant Grove businessman and police officer accepts a position with the Utah Highway Patrol in Layton after moving with his wife and family. He has served with the Orem Police for about a year and received Lions Club recognition as outstanding officer of the year. He was cited for bravery by the Utah Highway Patrol for helping an occupant from a burning car.

Housing Needed For UBBA Teams In Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove Recreation and Little League seek host families for UBBA tournament August 4 through 8. About 200 boys aged 9 to 12 require housing for 2 to 5 days. Walter Brock remains incumbent president and officers take office Oct 1 1969 with installation ceremonies. Haynie has lived in Pleasant Grove 16 years and works as an industrial engineer at Geneva Steel. He and his wife with six children reside at 80 South 1300 East.
