Geneva Steel Works to Begin Operation This Year
The Geneva Steel plant, built by Columbia Steel Company for the Defense Plant Corporation, is planned to start operation by next November and reach a production rate of 100000 tons of plate and 200000 tons of structural steel annually. The site covers vast tracks with a 786 million gallon reservoir, 70 miles of tracks, and a daily flow of 50 carloads out and 860 carloads in, including its own hospital and modern laboratories.
