The Innocents Set for Friday and Saturday at Pleasant Grove High

The Pleasant Grove High School drama department previews The Lingents by William Archibald. Keith Wesley Polly Nelson Jana Monson and Kristen Keate star in a tense drama about a loving Hoverbess seeking freedom from two dead influences. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 2:30 PM in the Lite Theatre.

Lindon City Council Holds Regular Meeting Jan 22

Lindon City Council met January 22 with all but Leroy Fryer present. Mayor Willard M. Johnson discussed a State University workshop in Provo on occupational safety for officials, plus plans to hire a part time city recorder as Harold Erickson phases out. The council approved bids for a police room podium and witness stand, and considered use of city building by a local riding club with February relocation. Other items covered included railroad crossing improvements, water line casing under track, attorney representation, subdivision bond issues, animal control needs, dog license fees, a new calibrator, truck repairs, and a February drafting meeting for ordinances. A Community Service Award was given to Elvie Erickson for twenty years of service.

Driver Training Starts Monday at Utah Trade Tech

A February driver education course for adults without licenses begins Monday February 3 at Utah Technical College in Provo. Registration is 5:30 PM, classes run 5:30 to 7:30 PM daily Monday through Friday, tuition is 40 dollars, and the course uses Drive r Trainers for simulated driving.

Archery Class to Start Tonight at Local Jr High Gym

Archery instruction begins tonight in the junior high girls gym led by Reid Saxey. Open to Pleasant Grove Lindon and Manila residents aged 12 and up. Bring own gear or be supplied. Four dollar registration covers a week long course.

Dog Licenses Due Monday for Pleasant Grove City

Pleasant Grove expects dog owners to obtain licenses by Monday after a Saturday due date. The city council authorized license sales without a $500 penalty if completed by then. Rabies proof is required unless the dog is very young. vaccination timing may vary for puppies.

Pleasant Grove Chess Tourney Opens February Fourth

The Pleasant Grove chess tournament starts Tuesday February 4 at Je Huh Schon Library. Registration from 5 to 7 PM, play begins 7 PM. Age brackets include 4 and under, 113, M42, and unlimited. entrants pay 1.50 to cover prizes. Participants must bring their own set and will play at least 8 games.

Mrs Glen Peterson is named coordinator of volunteers for the Utah State Training School under the Mental Retardation Association of Utah advocacy program. She will direct volunteer activities while Harriet Mulliner continues regular volunteer supervision at the institution.

Ballet Classes to Start in Pleasant Grove with Jackie Price Colledge

Jacqueline Price Colledge a former Ballet West soloist will teach ballet and jazz in Pleasant Grove for ages preschool to adults. A special jazz class for older girls requires no prior dance experience. An open house on Saturday Feb 1 from 1 to 4 pm at the Sportsmen Loons Center invites all.

March of Dimes Pre Telerama Show Saturday in Prove

Keb will headline the first annual Italy County Pre Telerama Show at Prove High School auditorium at 1 pm Saturday. Tacky the Clown and Marko the Great lead acts with surprise features as proceeds aid birth defect research. The event promotes KSL TV Channel 5 coverage starting 10 30 pm Saturday with celebrities from Sesame Street MASH and Broadway. Proceeds fund March of Dimes goals in Utah County. Tickets from Madonna Nielsen, 7-1 Store, Pleasant Grove, or the Provo office at 227 N. University Ave, or at the door.

Dr Hugh Allred Speaks at Cadmus Club Meeting

Dr Hugh Allred was guest speaker at Cadmus Club hosted by Fay Belliston on Wednesday evening. He spoke on The Gift of Understanding about how childhood status shapes adult behavior and urged recognizing children’s rightful identity. June Monson introduced the speakers and praised their community presence while Daisy Nielsen led the meeting and Effie Adams reported on the Legislative Council.

Manila Camp Daughters of Utah Pioneers Hold January Meeting

The Manila Camp D of Utah Pioneers met at Cora Atwood's home with Ruth Jackson and Lorena Warnick assisting. Vice Captain Claudia Brown led the session. Ruth Swenson reviewed Cora Atwood's 20 year scrapbook of camp and community family clippings. The group discussed continuing the project and voted to proceed. Lois McEwan presented Early Photographers in place of Sara Jense. Prayers were offered by Elie Adams and Martha Watson. Refreshments followed.

Chamber Banquet Speaker Neil Flinders Named

The Chamber of Commerce announces Neil Flinders will speak at the annual banquet Saturday in Pleasant Grove. Flinders, director of research and evaluation for the LDS Church Educational System, holds a doctorate in educational administration and human relations and is known as a private consultant and author. He chairs the Manila Planning Group and pursues hunting, fishing, and riding. A Saturday program will feature violinist Sandra Johnston and Mayor Cornell Haynie. election results for eight posts will be announced.

Special Interests Hold Class and Dances in Provo

The Special Interests host a weekly Scripture Study at the Old Provo Seminary, 1st South and ded Weat in Provo, free and open to all. A Friday night Saft Rock dance features a guest group from Gedar City at Edgemont Stake Center, 4300 North Canyon Road, Provo, with casual dress and a 9 p.m. start. Saturday features a contemporary dance at Vineyard Ward on Geneva Road. Banquet dinner planned by the Fourth Ward, with tickets from Chamber members or the Review office. The Chamber's annual board election lists eight candidates and ballots have been mailed. results announced at the banquet.

Kiwanis Club to Give $500 to Ambulance Fund

Pleasant Grove Kiwanis Club met Saturday morning under President Boyd Fugal to discuss projects including funding a new ambulance. A club secretary was tasked to write a check for the ambulance fund. Plans also included a 3 chair swing for Kiwanis Park and possible work at Heritage School and the City Library. Ken Harvey proposed a Valentines party for the ladies on February 22, with further projects to be discussed later.

Trophies Won in Ski Races at Sundance

Ski race day at Sundance Ski Resort in Provo Canyon featured winners from Utah county city recreation programs and Wolfe's instruction. The event counted Class E as advanced and Class A as beginners with a county wide list appearing in the Provo Herald. Offensive Driving Course Opens in Provo
