Forest Facilities To Expand In Recreation Forest
Washington D C June 18 Senator Wallace F Bennett announced a new Operation Outdoors program by the Forest Service to expand recreation facilities in Utah Wasatch National Forest. The plan commits 931000 for Utah forests next fiscal year, mainly toward campground and picnic area construction. Bennett noted visits rose from 538 0260 in 1941 to 1627232 in 1955 and said facilities are inadequate with a 40 percent usage rise expected by 1962. Initial improvements occurred last summer with 7725 spent after testimony before the Appropriations Committee.
