Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce mails membership forms and ballots for six board positions. Taxpayers Can Get Walkin Help on Taxes in Utah

The IRS Utah District Director Roland V Wise announced walk in tax help at the Provo federal building room 101 from January 5 through April 15 8 00 a m to 4 45 p m weekdays. Tax information can also be obtained via toll free telephone assistance for Utah residents.

PTA Council Grants Two Recognition Awards in Pleasant Grove

The Pleasant Grove PTA Council honored Calvin Walker and Mack Ostergaard at January meetings with special certificates. Walker, active in church leadership and community service, has 43 years teaching and 50 years in Scouting, and is compiling Pleasant Grove history. Ostergaard has 20 years in Scouting, serves on the Pleasant Grove High School advisory council, and remains active in local clubs. A Freedom Frolics night is planned for February 12 with schools displaying Reflections Project art.

Two PGHS Students Nominated for Governor Scholarship

Pleasant Grove High School seniors Steven L. Sorensen and Perry Dean Jensen are nominated for the Governor's Scholarship. Sorensen, son of John and Nadeen Sorensen, plans to study at Utah Technical College in Provo and become an electrician with carpentry and painting work experience. Jensen, son of Darwin D. and Lene Jensen, intends to study drafting and appears in Who's Who Among American High School Students with a 23.5 GPA. The state honors tradesmen at a March 20 appreciation dinner in Salt Lake City as part of Utah's Bicentennial year. 30 scholarships will be awarded to place winners at the Utah technical college of their choice.

Focus on Women program at Utah Technical College

Utah Technical College at Provo will sponsor its second Focus on Women day-long seminar on January 4. The event opens at 10 am with an address by First Lady Mrs. Lueyheth Rampton on The Future of Women in Utah. Morning sessions include a panel by students and graduates on Women in Nontraditional Occupations and a talk on Self-Concept Development by Jan Tyler.

Pleasant Grove Council Agrees on Publicity and Utilities

The Pleasant Grove City Council, led by Mayor Cornell Haynie, discussed a regional wastewater project, possible service district involvement, and county coordination. They approved advertising in the Progress edition highlighting the Alhambra Theater, debated pornography sales ordinances, and planned a six month rotation for mayor pro tempore. The meeting also covered library door repairs, ambulance service praise, a museum for antique farm equipment, a cemetery master plan, and ongoing recycling and dump-card arrangements.
