Mrs Nettie Shipley Walker Dies of Heart Ailment

Mrs Nettie Shipley Walker aged 7 died Thursday morning after a months long heart ailment. Widow of Sanford Fouts Walker she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage Sunday. Services set for 1 p m Sunday in the stake tabernacle with Bishop Junius A West in charge. Survived by three sons Basil Joseph and Lorin all of Pleasant Grove and daughter Mrs Laura Richie of Provo plus grandchildren.

Local business man visits California on buying trip

Vern Cullimore, manager of the Jocal Dixon Taylor Russell Co., is spending two weeks in California on a business trip. He is guest of the company's managers and will help select and buy furniture and supplies. This week was in Los Angeles and next week will be in San Francisco.

Pleasant Grove Socials and Visits Spread Through Town

Pleasant Grove residents attended temple visits in Salt Lake City and Magna, hosted luncheons, and enjoyed dances in Lindon. Local families reported illnesses, jury duty in Provo, and multiple gatherings including birthdays, group meals, and family travel across Utah and Idaho.

Dramatic Reader to Stage Worthy High School Event

Miss Florence Peterson presents a one night dramatic reading at the High School Auditorium next Wednesday at 8 p.m. under PTA and Drama Art Department sponsorship. She will read and impersonate the four act play Friend Hanna by Paul Kester, a modern love story.

Orem Lindon Dairymen Feted In Salt Lake Visit

The Orem LIndon Dairy Milk Producers, about 40 members, travel to Salt Lake City as guests of Clover Leaf Dairy. They tour the dairy, lunch at Newhouse Hotel, then visit the Federated Laboratory for milk testing.

Betterment League Sunday Programs by Ward

The Betterment League will host Sunday programs for all wards except Lindon with Mr B A Beck providing two musical numbers. Night Fire Destroys Garage on Battle Creek Road

A garage at August Paulson's Battle Creek road home burned around 10 PM Wednesday as live ashes were piled against the structure. Firefighters prevented spread to the house and other outbuildings, with damage estimated at 50 dollars and several thousands involved. The family car was saved.

Pleasant Grove Chamber to entertain outgoing board members

The Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce board will entertain outgoing members tomorrow night at 5:00 p.m. with a dinner at Mrs Willis Bromley’s home. At 10:00 p.m. they will attend a show at the Alhambra Theatre for 15 members and their wives.

Stake Quarterly Conference Well Attended Here

The Tinypanages stake held its regular quarterly conference Saturday evening and Sunday, presided by W. W. Warnici. The program featured talks on The Book of Mormon, musical numbers by BYU students and local performers, and testimonies from missionaries returning and about to depart for mission service. The MLA officers led Sunday events with Joseph J. Gannon and Lucy Grant Cannon as speakers, touching on marriage and missionary experiences. The event closed with benediction by Edna Newman.

Patrons Day Planned at Pleasant Grove High School

The Pleasant Grove high school schedules Patron's Day for Friday February 11 with morning parent teacher consultations and course outlines. Church Notes Boy Leaders Plan School League and Events

Senior high students discuss forming a boys league to improve conditions at the school. A six member committee including Rex Walker and Leo Eves will meet to plan. West ward members and church leaders announce a reunion social on February 5 and a priesthood meeting at 2 10 am. A scenic picture show and a Genealogical Union meeting are scheduled for Sunday and Thursday respectively.

Pleasant Grove Births and Deaths Report 1937

The Pleasant Grove registry records 49 births in 1937 with 25 male and 24 female babies. There were 38 deaths, consisting of 24 males and 15 females, as reported by Registrar Grace Harper Nelson.

The Pleasant Grove Open Forum club hosts a competition at 2 00 p m with the Oper Forum Society of the American Park high school. Representing the local school are senior Gordon Wright and Edgar Sth junior class and Newman and Austin Dumore. Director Mr Lycan Johnson leads the club.

Manila Ward Banquet Successful

The Manila ward held a very successful banquet Wednesday evening. A large crowd attended and a turkey dinner was served. A splendid program followed in the assembly room and a lively dancing party concluded the social event. Merrill Ny Warnick led the general committee with capable helper committees.

The M Men basketball games draw crowds at the High School Gym each Thursday. Last week’s results include Second Ward 38 Windsor 20 and First Ward 36 Manila 48 with Third Ward 36 Lindon pending completion.
