Lindon Ward Banquet To Be Held At Pleasant High

Lindon Ward will hold its ward banquet at Pleasant High School next Saturday January 20 with a dinner and program. A J Rogers serves as master of ceremonies. Stake Time Items: In the Th Muna ward next Sunday evening the program will be directed by the Quorum of Seventy. In the Second ward the sacrament meeting program will be given by the Isaac Jacob family. Manila Ward sets January 2 for their annual banquet. Officers and teachers of the Second Ward Primary met at Mrs. Laura Allred’s home. Donna Ash led the teacher training lesson and Primary conference plans were discussed. Others present included Hannah Matthews, Ethel Allen, Clara Jensen, Carol Clark, Maymette Johnson and several named members.

Windsor ward lists Glen Hooley who left January 11 for Fort Douglas to enter the armed forces. Third ward inductees are Paul Warburton and Gene Nelson, sons of Albert Warburton and Melvin Nelson, both married with three children. Edith Stark hosted a Monday evening gathering of girl friends with games reminiscences and refreshments.

Renowned Cherniavskys to Appear in Alpine Concert

The Cherniavsky duo Jan and Mischa, famed violinist and pianist of the Cherniavsky trio, will perform at the Alpine Stake Tabernacle on Thursday evening, January 25, starting at 6 15. Their program features Bach Saint-Saens Variations Chaconne and Chopin studies among others.

Nelson T. Fenton 90th Birthday Celebrated in Pleasant Grove

Nelson T. Fenton longtime Pleasant Grove resident marked his 90th birthday on January 8 with family at his home. Born in Salt Lake City in 1855 to Thomas and Emma Fenton he helped build Utahs early community including Pioneer Park and the Salt Lake Temple. He married Mary Anne West in 1879. she died in 1929. He lives on the original homestead cared for by daughter Estelle Fenton. He has one child, 34 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Seven grandsons serve in the armed forces. Archie T and Bea Walker Adams announce the birth of a baby girl born Monday at American Fork hospital. the father, newly arrived, is with the U S Coast Guard at Treasure Island.

Pl Grove Boys Reported Missing In War

Word came Wednesday to Mr and Mrs Erheart Olsen that Sherman W Olsen, born 1917 in Pleasant Grove, is missing in action over Belgium. He attended Pleasant Grove High School and worked at Geneva Steel before enlisting March 4 1948. Training at Fort Douglas, service command unit, with two brothers also in service. Also Pvt Davidt Forrest Driggs missing in Belgium since December 21 after training at Camp Roberts, Campbellbury, Camp Mead and overseas since October.

Bennion to Speak at Annual Banquet in First Ward

Lions Attend Banonet Honoring Lions Founder in Salt Lake

A Pleasant Grove Lions Club delegation led by President Sam Hilton attended a banner in Salt Lake City honoring Lions International founder Melvin Jones at the Newhore Hotel. International President D A Sheen of Balt Lake spoke, and a musical program followed. attendees included W Hilton and numerous club members.

Eugene Harvey was out for Third Ward with illness while J Harvey and Robert Shoell led First Ward with 8 points each.
