Stake Quarterly Conference Sessions Held

Stake members and friends from all tan wards of Timpanogos Stake gathered at the Timpanogos State House Sunday morning for the quarterly conference. Elder Marian G. Romney of the Council of Twelve spoke as officers were sustained and new high council members named. The 2:30 session, conducted by President Fugal, featured music by ward choirs and the nomination of Helge V. Swenson as stake patriarch.

Swenson Sustained as Timp Stake Patriarch

Helge V. Swenson was sustained as a Patriarch in the Timpanogos Stake at the Quarterly Stake Conference. A lifelong LDS Church worker from Sweden and Pleasant Grove, he has held multiple stake and ward offices, served as High Counselor, Home Missionary, deacon supervisor, and Scout advocate, and was honored with the Honorary M Men award at the stake conference.

Prosecution Warned Over B B Gun Violations in PG City

Public Safety chairman Eldon Johnson and Police Officer John Huntsman urged enforcement of PG City Ordinance prohibiting B B guns within city limits. They cited seven broken windows in three days from pellets and warned juveniles using guns off premises or transporting them openly will face prosecutions to the full extent of the law.

Funeral Rites Held Monday for J. E. Warburton

Funeral services for J B Warburton were held Monday at the Third-Sixth Ward chapel with Bishop G Albert Spencer presiding. The service included mixed quartet numbers and tributes from Calvin Walker and David Gourley praising his scouting work and outdoors life. Burial was in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with pallbearers named and flowers arranged by the Sixth Ward Relief Society. Warburton died Friday morning from a heart ailment. he was born November 9 1876 in Pleasant Grove and spent his life there as a farmer and director of local irrigation ventures. Survived by daughters and sons in Pleasant Grove, Midvale and other localities.

Gillman Nominated as Outstanding Riding Club Man

Ken Gillman of Pleasant Grove rides into contention for the Outstanding Riding Club Man honor in the Utah State Western Riding Club Association. He has long served as district representative and state director, led Pleasant Grove to district and state placings, and holds multiple community posts in Lindon and Pleasant Grove. The jamboree and honors event are slated for January 19 at Magna, with Gillman noted for announcing duties and leadership in local equestrian and civic groups.

Turkey Convention Attended by Mr and Mrs Adams

Mr and Mrs Adams returned from Cincinnati where they attended the National Turkey Federation winter convention January 7 to 10. Mrs Adams, retiring federation president, passed the gavel to new president Trevor L Jones while Mr Adams joined the federation's Executive Board. The banquet drew 4100 attendees and the couple received honors including a wristwatch and a painting by Everett Thorpe of Logan. Ezra Taft Benson sent greetings and a message read by Mr Adams.

Openhouse Sunday to Honor Mrs. Wadley in Pleasant Grove

An openhouse will honor Mrs. Mary Hickerson Wadley on Sunday January 20 from 4 to 7 pm at 50 East Third North Pleasant Grove. She turns 85 January 23 and many family members attend. Mrs Wadley a longtime Pleasant Grove native is noted for gardening knitting and community ties with her seven children eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren cited.
