Ambulance Fund Drive Hikes Toward New Unit

The ambulance fund balance rose to 3000 this week with 200 from the High School and 250 from the Pleasant Grove Fire Department. Students at the high school raised 200 from 25 cent donations for a wrestling match. To equip a new ambulance the total cost tops 20000 with 10500 needing local support after state aid halves the local share. City council met with club reps to plan further fundraising.

Anderson Promoted Manager In California Branch Bank

United California Bank promotes William L. Anderson to Yorba Linda and Placentia manager. A 33 year old Yorba Linda resident, he previously served as customer service manager. He joined the bank in 1966, worked in Los Angeles area installment credits, left in 1972, earned a business degree, rejoined last August, and he and his wife Jymme have a nine year old son Kevin.

National Awards Program for Environmentalists

A national awards program for environmental education teachers will be conducted next year. Sponsored by the NACD and Allis Chalmers with a 1500 dollar top prize, the Teacher of the Year earns a trip to the NACD national meeting and recognition at state and regional levels. Eligible are teachers in conservation districts who include environmental conservation in classroom work. nominations via the district office in Provo or by phone 877 5580. Winners are chosen by environmental education leaders and the NACD.

City Recreation Classes Begin And Sports Plans In Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove announces winter recreation options including an archery demo for parents at 7 p.m. in the Jr High Women’s Gym led by Reid Saxey with a next session starting Jan 30. A city chess tournament is planned for late January at the high school with cash prizes. Boys basketball league playoffs run Jan 18 to 29 with trophies. City wrestling starts March 8 for eight weeks, coached by Harold Henry, with weight class trophies. An orchestra for Jr High ages is being organized with a February public meeting and school notices for details.

Senior Citizens to Have Two Trips

Senior Citizens will not hold a blood pressure and urine analysis clinic on Monday Jan. 20 with lunch at 12 40 p.m. The clinic to start at pm. There are a few reservations open for the Hardware Ranch elk herd trip on Jan. 25. A Park City tour is set for Feb. 8 and those unable to get Hardware Ranch reservations will be considered first for Park City.

Haynie Elected to Head Council of Governments

Mayor W Cornell Haynie of Pleasant Grove was elected chairman of Utah County's Council of Governments for 1975, replacing Mayor Q Doyle Crook of Santaguin. Karl Lyman as vice chairman and Waud Hanks of Salem as secretary were also selected, with UVIDA reporting to the committee.

Donald Aucoin Graduates from Police Academy

Ralph H. Jones, director of the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training, announced today 29 law enforcement officers from 18 agencies in Utah graduated in special ceremonies from the Utah Law Enforcement Academy. Commencement was at 1 30 p m Tuesday with further notes on planning aides, animal control, and county cooperation, including remarks about Weber County as a competitor for industry and decentralization desires to bring services closer to communities.

Chandler Speaks to Kiwanis on regional land use planning
