Lincoln Whips Vikings in League Opener

Pleasant Grove High School hosted a league opener where Lincoln dominated the Vikings 81 to 58. Coach Evan Baugh deployed his five starters as Moon led Lincoln with 20 points while Monson and Carter paced Pleasant Grove with 9 and 8 points respectively. The junior varsity contest earlier thrilled fans as the Vikings won 44 to 42.

Stake Conference Set for January 22 23 Weekend Events

Timpanogox Stake Conference will be held Saturday January 22 and Sunday January 23 according to President Merrill N. War nick. Garl W. Buehner of the Presiding Bishopric will be the visiting speaker. A welfare meeting is scheduled Saturday at 6 50 p.m. The Sunday general sessions are at 10 a.m. and 2 30 p.m. with an 7 80 p.m. session sponsored by the Mutual Improvement Association.

Cadmus Club To Present Twin Piano Recital

The Cadmus Club invites the public to a twin piano recital at the Timpanogos Stake Tabernacle on January 21 at 8 pm. Guest artists include Pleasant Grove natives Mrs. Arlis Steiner and Mrs. Karl Adamson with daughters Connie Berdine and Carlyn Steiner, all related to Mrs. Mary C. Neves of Pleasant Grove. The program features duets and Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with four hands on two pianos.

Lydia A. Kelley Died in American Fork Hospital

Lydia A Adams Kelley died Wednesday at an American Fork hospital after three weeks of illness. Born February 20 1888 in Pleasant Grove she married Alva L Kelley in 1908. he died in 1948. Survived by three sons two sisters four brothers and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday noon at the American Fork First Ward chapel with burial in American Fork Cemetery.

Harvey Returns to Lead P G Irrigation Co

Leo P Harvey was re elected president of the Pleasant Grove Irrigation Company at the annual stockholders meeting in City Hall. David Gourley was re elected vice president and a slate of directors was chosen. The board seeks capacity water from the Salt Lake Aqueduct and up to two additional second feet may be available from Deer Creek Reservoir next year for irrigation. A $37 000 loan from Utah Water and Power Board was approved for drilling three irrigation wells over 20 years with no interest. Drilling will begin soon and a contractor will be named once contracts are signed.

BYU Extension Lectures On Understanding Our Teenagers

Brigham Young University Extension Division and Alpine School District sponsor a six week lecture series titled Understanding Our Teenagers. Central School PTA Reports Record High Enrollment

Central School PTA announces a record high membership driven by strong parental and teacher support. Mrs. Orval Bullock, membership chair, notes GA paid up members to date, surpassing last year's total of 182. The drive earned 75 percent toward first standard achievement, with Plaets Grove School cited for top regional enrollment in Alpine, Juab, Nephi, Provo, and Tintic districts.

Boyd Anderson, a local derryman, was elected president of the Pleasant Grove Farm Bureau at the Alpine Grill during the annual election. Harvey Millar, manager of Geneva Chemical Company, was chosen as vice president, with Jean Pugal and others named to the board of directors. retiring president Leo Harvey led the dinner and remarks by regional officials followed.

Isaac W Nelson 77 lifelong Pleasant Grove resident died Tuesday at Top in & Prove Now hospital after a long illness. Born June 12 1808 in Pleasant Grove to Ing a Benson Nobor he farmed and raised sheep. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Survived by two sisters. District Governor Speaks to Linden Lions Five New Members Installed

District Governor Otto Pry and his wife addressed the Linden Lions Club and inducted five new members into the club during a Friday evening meeting. Deputy District Governor HV Holdaway conducted the ceremony, welcoming Halph Whorinton Blain Batty Wealey Swenson Ast Marshall and Owen Healey. The group discussed community projects at Linden Park and a planned jail visit in February with a future club raffle and a poll to join in civic efforts.
