West Elected Board President for Alpine School District

Junius A West of Pleasant Grove was elected President of the Alpine School District Board of Education at the annual election of officers held Wednesday evening in the board office at American Fork. West is serving his fifth year on the board with extensive church and civic experience. Thomas A Barrett of American Fork was chosen vice president and Elijah Chipman was selected as clerk treasurer of the board.

Sunday Services By Young Ladies In Timpanogos Stake

A group of teenage girls from each ward in the Timpanogos stake begin a home mission rotating to each ward to give Sunday evening programs. Beginning next Sunday they will speak and provide musical numbers, with named participants from Third, First, Linden, Manila, Grove, and Second wards and advisers listed.

Neldon Lim Heads Local Polio Drive in Pleasant Grove

Neldon Lim serves as chairman of the polio drive in Pleasant Grove, announced by J. W. Thornton of Provo. Bishop and Mrs. HS Walker hosted a bishopric gathering with spouses after church, featuring a social hour and luncheon. City streets saw major upgrades in 1948 including 9221 feet of new oil surfacing 4182 feet of rebuilt sections 4 miles of resurfacing and 14 miles of new roads The program financed by property owners taxation and road funds covered Battle Creek Horace Monson and 5th to 7th North segments and paved slow cemetery side roads while work also began on a link from Highway 61 east near Alpine Villa and Rulon Trimball properties.

Funeral Services for Elisha Mayhew Held in LDS Chapel

Funeral services for Elisha T. Mayhew 77 were held Thursday at 2 p m in Pleasant Grove Ward chapel. Born February 10, 1871 to Millah and Ann Rogers Mayhew he farmed in Utah County. He retired 19 years ago and was active in the Linen Ward, a ward teacher and stake missionary. Survived by eight children and two great grandchildren, with several in Utah and California. widow Sadie Harper died in 1931.
