Strawberry Days Rodeo Scheduled For June 15 16 17

Strawberry Days Rodeo will be staged June 15 16 and 17 under new sponsorship by the Chamber of Commerce replacing city sponsorship. Kenneth R Gillman remains chairman Vernon Altman continues as secretary treasurer and Gordon Taylor leads ticket sales. Dean Peterson to run the Rodeo Queen contest May 30. Rodeo acts include two clowns Roger Manson and Jaquin Sanchez with other specialty acts planned.

Lindon Council Names Committees for 1961 at First Meeting

Lindon held its January 5 1961 meeting appointing committees for roads public safety public health civil defense water and buildings and grounds. Swenson chair of roads with Ray Walker. Christiansen chairs water with Gillman. Parks and building duties assigned to Walker. reservoir project noted 300000 gallon target. City recorder Harold Erickson treasurer Elvie Erickson dog catcher Paul Page. Pleasant Grove police and fire service continued with a reminder that city costs are 100 per hour for false alarms. Tax and license deadlines set for March 1.

Chamber of Commerce Sets 1961 Strawberry Days Dates

The Chamber of Commerce held its January 5 board meeting chaired by Maron Ovedon. It approved the Cola of C G to run the 1961 Strawberry Days Rodeo set for June 15 to 17 and reappointed Kenneth Gillman as Rodeo Chairman and Vernon Altman as Secretary. An Industrial Development Committee meeting is slated for January 12 at 7:30 pm in City Hall.

Tuttle Returns From South American Mission Tour

Elder A. Theodore Ruttis of the First Council of Seventy has returned to Pleasant Grove after a two month visit with President Joseph Fielding Smith and Mrs. Smith. They toured church missions in Central and South America including Brazil and Argentina. Elder Tuttle noted historic firsts for an Apostle and First Council of Seventy member visiting the Latin American missions since their 1925 dedication, and cited growing missionary activity and 800 missionaries in the field.

The bank named 1961 officers Keith H Jacobs VP Kay L Jacobs executive VP and cashier Ertmann Christensen and William E B Petersen assistant cashiers. Total assets on Jan 1 1961 stood at 5 102 675 65 up from 4 558 280 08 in 1960 deposits rose to 4 557 076 6 a gain of 471 897 03. Current operating earnings for the fiscal year were 79 646 50. West voiced optimism for Utah's 1961 economy and praised customers while pledging continued service.
