Pfc Sherwin Olsen Reported Not Living By Gov

War Department says Pfc. Sherwin W. Olsen of Pleasant Grove Utah is dead. Born September 7 1925 he was inducted March 5 1943 stationed Fort Douglas seventeen months and went overseas October 1944. Survived by his parents and three brothers Verlyn Gordon and Morel Olsen.

Laura Banner Named Chairman of 3rd District Health Group

Laura Banner, Pleasant Grove High School physical education instructor, was elected chairman of the 3rd district Health and Physical Education Association. The district includes Alpine Provo and Nebo School districts with the 3rd district meeting set for February 16 at Brigham Young University in Provo. Attendees include Eddie Kimball, Dorothy Richmond, and Dave Croten. all district health and physical education instructors are invited.

M Men League develops good squads in third round

Manila Second Ward and Third Ward won in round three of the M Men basketball league played last week. Standings show Second Ward 3 0, Third Ward 3 0, Manila 2 1, Windsor 1 2, Lindon 0 3, First Ward 6 0. In Manila’s 25 13 win over Lindon, Bannering led with 11, Dick 8, Lee, while Lindon’s Ick, Gillman and R Walker had three each. Second Ward beat Windsor 32 14 with Giles and Matthews scoring 14 each. First Ward fell to Lindon 37 17 as Carter and Eugene Harvey were absent. The piece notes strong defense and the impact of returning service members on league depth and lineup selection.
