Mothers Club January 3 Meeting Highlights Utah Centennia

Mrs Artie Overtide hosted the January 3 meeting of the Mothers Club with Mrs Lealand Clark in charge. Program focused on Utah statehood anniversary and centennial year themes. Mrs Vernon Altman spoke on Utah songs and pioneers spirit. Reports included Utah Woman’s Decoration Council events and legislation on detention homes. A tray luncheon followed with 21 members and one guest.

Endowment Sessions Begin at Salt Lake Temple

The Stake Presidency and the Genealogical Committee announce that the first Endowment Session is Tuesday January 14 at the Salt Lake Temple. Temple hours are daily except Saturday at 1:30 pm 5 pm and 6 15 pm. Upcoming sessions run January 29 February 3 and 20 March 12 April 2 and 30 May 13 and 23. Funeral Rites Conducted for Phillip Kopp

Funeral services led by Bishop Warrick Swenson were held Monday at 2 p m in the Manila Ward Chapel for Phillip Kopp who died last week in a Salt Lake hospital. Music featured solos by Mrs Marie Brown and a duet by Mrs Allen and Mrs Warnick. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with Olpin Mortuary directing.

Jaycees Sweetheart Dance Held by Pleasant Grove Chapter

Pleasant Grove Junior Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Sweetheart Dance at the First Ward Amusement Hall. Members presented wives with Jaycee Auxiliary pins while couples enjoyed refreshments and a lively evening amid praises of the event.

Pleasant Grove High School opened its schedule with a decisive win over Lehi on their home floor. Royce Matthews starred on defense and Bob Hilton scored 11 points from center while Doyle Harris faded after a strong first quarter.

Funeral Services Monday For Mrs Emma A Swenson

Emma A Swenson 77 died Wednesday at her Lindon home after weeks of illness. Born September 23 1869 in Sweden she came with LDS missionaries at age eleven and settled near Provo. Survived by husband Arkiew Bweuens ty and family including children and grandchildren. Services Monday at 1 PM in the First Ward Chapel with Olpin Mortuary handling arrangements.

Cadmus Club gathered January 6 at Mrs Margaret Sumalon's home for an evening of light entertainment by Mrs Thelma Adamson who presented a program on Botivti and discussed religious themes.
