The Chamber of Commerce presented a 736 dollar check to Pleasant Grove City for a street sign project. City officials and volunteers completed most work, with the city contributing 1,000 and labor aiding progress to keep costs near 1,786. Homeowners urged to update house numbers to match official maps.
The Church History Class will hold the tenth lecture by Ivan J. Barnett at 7 00 p m Friday January 8 1960 in the Olt Seminary Building The series will continue with ten more lectures and registration options are available at the January 8 meeting or by calling Estelle Ferriten or Maud Richards The fee for ten lectures is two dollars per member
Jo and Kay Bott spent Christmas holidays in Midvale with their aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Bob Shan.
Mr and Mrs Keith Jacobs with Dr anit My Homer Royle of Americat Rock in Salt Lake City hosted a birthday party for George Peay on a spring Saturday. The Peay family joined the informal gathering featuring a potluck supper, reminiscing, viewing photos, and exchanging gifts and good wishes to their father.

Bishop Gayl W. Buehner of the Presiding Bishopric will address a two day conference in Timpanogos Stake. Saturday sessions will target local congregational leaders, while Sunday meetings open to the public begin at 10 am and 2 20 pm under Stake President Boyd L. Fugal. Buehner, a German born building contractor turned church official, has served as missionary, bishop, stake president and Welfare Plan official. The 1960 conferences emphasize youth development as part of a church wide parents and youth program begun by President David C. McKay.
Seventh Ward hosts a welcome service for Gary Anderson returning from a Danish mission. Bishop Karl Butler and Bishop T Arch Adams give remarks, Elder Anderson speaks of his mission, songs include I Know That My Redeemer Lives and Nearer My God to Thee, with piano solo by Betty Clark of Provo and benediction by Verl Jacobson of Salt Lake City.
Mr and Mrs Harvey Ravwlin and Mrs Ray A Deveraix visited relatives in Heber and Midway on Tuesday.
The PGHS Vikings swept their bench in a Dec 30 scrimmage at home, defeating Morgan High 73-29 while showing a strong shooting night from Ken Chipman who scored 12 points. Best for Morgan was Sommers with six as Pleasant Grove closes practice with a regional tune up at American Park Friday.
Three new Pleasant Grove City Councilmen reen pv Walker Paul Farnham and Clifford C Hales were sworn in Monday night replacing John Green Eldon Johnson and Lewis J Hamer whose terms expired City Judge C Newman administered the oath The old council authorized Utah Power and Light Co to install five 6000 lumen street lights at Thurst south and one 6000 lumen light at Third South and Locust Avenue Mayor Burton H Adams with new council approval announced permanent committee appointments led by Clifford Hales Paul Mordham Gerald Klemm and others including Paul Fordham Paul Adamson Reed O Walker and mirrored designations for public safety streets and licenses assignments
The Pleasant Grove Irrigation Co. announces its annual stockholders meeting for Saturday January 9 at 2 30 pm in the Pleasant Grove City hall Secretary Harold S Walker says the agenda covers the annual report election of two directors from the Second and Fourth Districts for two years and any unfinished or new business will be transacted.
Dr. Paul V. Christofferson was named Utah State Veterinarian by the State Board of Agriculture and will take effect January 4, 1960. He succeeds Dr. A. K. Kutiler, who serves part time, after a career including veterinary work at Geneva Steel, Utah State University and military service in the Army Veterinary Corps.
A heavy snow storm dropped 7 inches over the Pleasant Grove area as 1959 closed. A sub zero cold spell followed with a low of 5 degrees below zero. The week ended January 4 1960 shows 0.67 inch of precipitation and 14.92 inches for 1959, with 0.13 inch in 1960 so far. The forecast calls for continued below normal cold and possible light flurries.

In 1944 Dr Christofferson married Lesh Jeanne Swenson and they became parents to five sons: Todd, Gregg, Timothy, Wade and Thomas. The family moved to Lindon in November 1956, recording a long Texas default with ties to the local community.
Missionary farewell services for Alton Leroy Hone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rylon J. Hone, will be held Sunday evening January 10 at 7 30 in the First Ward Chapel directed by Bishop Lewis J. Harmer. Bilder Hone has accepted a call to labor in the New Zealand Mission entering the Salt Lake City mission home January 18 and leaving for her field January 25. The program includes prelude Verda Fenton, opening song, invocaton Evan N Hone sacrament song, musical numbers, remarks from parents, and closing benediction by Merrill Hone.
