Four Local Men Honored for Long Service at Pleasant Grove Dinner
The Bank of Pleasant Grove and Pleasant Grove Irrigation Company hosted a dinner at the Alpine County Club last Thursday to honor Leo Harvey Ezra J Swenson Joseph A Christiansen and Harold S Walker for 110 years of combined service as officers and directors. They retired from office after long terms and the group enjoyed a steak dinner with words of appreciation from T Archie Adams Keith Jacobs J H Harvey and Al Roy Gillman. Twenty three guests attended as present officers and board members were listed with J H Harvey as president Eugene Bezzant vice president Archie Adams Roy Fryer John Y Swenson as board members and Al Roy Gillman as secretary treasurer.

Eighth Ward Court of Honor during Scout Week
During Scout Week the Eighth Ward held a Court of Honor at the Pleasant Grove Stake House. Cubs Scouts Ventures and Explorers and parents attended. Eleven year old Scouts received Skill Awards and Tenderfoot First Class Star and Merritt Badges. An Eagle ceremony awarded Ronald and Randy Story. Clyde Huntsman earned Bronze Palm. Bob Peterson led the event with speakers Claude Lomax and Clyde Crump. A spaghetti dinner followed with cake auctions.

Klondike Derby Held in A F Canyon by Five P G Wards
Five wards from Pleasant Grove and Timpanogos Stakes sent Scouts to American Fork Canyon for a Klondike Derby. Troops from Lindon Troop 25 Grove 24 Sixth 166 Third 23 and Fifth 162 built sleds and city stations, tested fire making first aid compass reading and cooking. Eagle Patrol Sixth Ward won with Pack Rat Patrol Third Ward second and Barracudas Third Ward third. Lindon Ward earned best sled while Sixth Ward recorded fastest time and one ward was towed by snowmobile.
